Look what i found in my welshy colts mane today..........a wind plait! and a perfect one at that - does that mean that the gypsies are going to steal the little bugger? :p

The little wretch kept moving/blowing in the wind so its the best pic i could get of it, its a perfect plait with 3 strands and everything and even has a little knot in the end :P
He is very exposed where he is turned out up on a hill in windy conditions :D

I imagine lots of horse-owners think the gypsies are after their horses in these windy conditions!

There's a warning on a local horsey site telling us all peoples' horses have been "marked" for stealing.... :D

mine gets those too - so i do a plait to stop it, nightmare to get out and only seems to happen when its wet as well as windy.

but surely that could well mean he's been marked by gypsys to be nicked :L perhaps you should move him id be ever so worried

You cheeky mares! :p
My friend Danni posted about this the other week and got rinsed bless her!
At least her heart was in the right place, she's a worrier at the best of times :) :)

All my three suffer with wind plaits so I always spray with baby oil, and put in a loose ruining plait this also helps when they roll the mud doesn't seem to stick as much.:)

A year or so ago the BHS investigated this issue thoroughly and it was found to be complete nonsense. It's just the weather and horses sticking their noses into tight places or horsing around in the field.

Mines out 24/7 un rugged and he gets these all the time and they are a nuisance to get out! Its the wind.

Stop worrying!

i keep leaving plaits in my lots manes hoping that some 'unmetionables' will happen by and take them away but dammit they're still there in the field every morning and noon waiting to be fed:rolleyes::D
