It's that windy here it's just blown my IW trailer uphill up the yard a good 20 yards! Luckily, it went straight and hit the brick kerb otherwise we could have had a mess; as it is, it's massacred some shrubs on the way. OH will be in for a shock when he comes home tonight!

It's real baton down the hatches weather here, very gusty so hope you all take care and don't get any damage.

Not as bad here as it was a couple of days ago, but still too windy to ride :( :( :(

Dizz isn't particularly spooky, but I'm not yet secure enough in the saddle to cope with any three feet leaps sideways :( :(

Very pee'd off :(

Hope everyone is safe, and that your shrubs recover!

my recycling bin has blown over in the front garden....al those bottles makes it look like i've had a massive rave last night - whatever will the neighbours think?!

Its horrendous here in essex I started my new groom's job this morning and the place they are kept is open fields and OMG it is VERY VERY windy...they have stayed in today so had to skip out with them in do waters everything I don't know these horses either I was on my own so was very difficult to deal with.

I have to go back up this afternoon to do it all again...lucky me :)

Be careful everyone out there it's howling round my windows etc not nice at all.

Terrible.

We had it Thursday night, all day Friday, dropped on Saturday then picked up high gusts again Sunday lunchtime and it's just as bad now, been lots of accidents around us on the roads and trees being blown over.

Roll on summer.

i rode my pony this morning who has only been sat on 4 or 5 times. we had a little wonder around in really high wind. he was fine. and i also rode my older lad around the farm and he was also fine. i think if you make it an issue, it will become one. i like my horses to be safe in all weather. they have a job to do. however if the wind is so bad your blowing away, i wouldnt ride.

It's dire! My livestock trailer is in the hedge, 2 water troughs have arrived from the fields into the yard; I've lost 1 gate and some sheeting from the haybarn... Horses in as I'm worried about flying debris in the paddocks and the fence not staying up :o
The joys of open fenland :rolleyes:
I wonder how long the telephone cables will hold out for, good job the electrics are under ground...

Much better today - has been awful!

I threw a feed bucket to the barn on Friday, but the wind took it & deposited it on the roof of the stables instead! What's the chances of that happening hey?! haha

awful to drive the lorry in, kept getting blown into the middle of the road - thankfully the roads were quiet.

Even worse to ride in, thought i was going to get blown off him, and even he was struggling to keep forward in trot. Stock made multiple desperate attempts to freedom!

I've just been called a wuss for ducking out of hunting. Sitting on a horse on a hillside with every word lost in the wind, while the huntsman takes over an hour to find hounds cos they can't hear the horn - versus - a long soak in the bath, listening to the radio, enjoying some 'me' time. hmmm

Crikey martlin, that sounds like fun - not.

My lot haven't stopped racing around since they were turned out into their 2 acre mudpatch, never known them to have so much energy before. Today would have been a good day for a video, some of the broncing was amazing but I'd never have held the camera still!

Hope you all stay safe.

Very blustery! Filling the barrow with straw is just a joke! Have resorted to filling 1 tonne sand sacks with straw and lugging them around instead - otherwise, we are simply bedding down the parking area and just scattering it round the fields!

I did get to ride yesterday, but it was only a quick jaunt round the village. My young horse is still working nicely in the indoor, despite the fact that the wind whips up mini dust storms in there. We are keeping sessions very short - for both our sakes!

Very windy, no trailers blown away yet thankfully. I did ride at the weekend, and had to get off to open a gate because the wind was blowing so hard i couldn't hang on to it and get me & ponio thru - even stood with my back against it, it was pushing me over  My boy was a star, hacked out very very alert, but was also very well behaved :D

Haying the field is interesting

Lol, don't they know the saying 'never take hounds out on a windy day'?
It's pointless and frustrating for everyone including the hounds, not to say damn dangerous too if they should get near roads or railways. Think you made the right choice, at least you can be smug when they all come in battered and blown with not a lot to show for it.

Still very gusty - can't believe it hasn't blown itself out yet!?

Hunting was cancelled on Sat as was in a heavily wooded area, so we went for a 3 hour hack on open common land instead, which was mental as it was raining too, but such fun. Horses behaved really well considering so am planning on hacking out this afternoon, but will avoid the roads as can't hear cars coming.

Meant to drop late this afternoon, then sunny toomorow, but with rain coming back on Weds - roll on spring!

Normally we'll ride in just about any weather, but given that I'm just back in the saddle and D1 isn't feeling great, we're erring on the side of caution today! As Friend said, we're coming into the good riding weather so it's not like we should feel we have to cram it in wherever we can :D

Am pee'ved though as haven't been back on the Dizz yet, not since the one and only ride last Tuesday. At this rate, between The Cold and now the wind, I will have a new contract before I get to play every day again :(

Very windy!!! It let up a bit on Suaturday/Sunday but it's gone back to blowing everything about the place including the haybarn at the yard which we've lost a bit of! I'm hoping it dies down later so I can ride without fear of being blown out of the saddle/squished by a tree or jumped 4 ft sideways by the pony....

Thank you Maesfen, you've made me feel SOOOO much better.

I did venture out for a hack yesterday- but that really wasn't a good idea!! I think my stables masked how windy it actually was!!

Also, The Hair issue is getting slightly out of control!! :p

Not too bad down here in Zummerzet. Dustbins, large recycling bins etc all blown over but trailers still in the same place.

Friend's Collie didn't want to get out of her car this morning at our yard as she was scared of the wind monster but soon shot out when she saw my terrier tearing round.

Horses not tearing around in the fields but one livery went out hacking and avoided the roads as she said she could'nt hear what was comming.

Still very windy, decided to do rugs in the stables this morning as im fed up with them ending up over my head, doors are banging, yard gets messy with everything flying off wheel barrows or off the muck heap.
Im now wearing my big winter hat again despite being too hot and looking a bit silly as getting a brush through my hair is not much fun.

I don't think we have it as bad as some though

really windy here- I was going to clip this afternoon but think its a no no, never mind the fact he winds himself up, its the hair blowing everywhere I dont like!

My recycling boxes have just fallen over, the old rugs I use to cover my guinea pig hutch are blowing everywhere.... mayhem!!!
