Wind! How's It With You?

Horrible......everythings banging and clattering- trailers still upright ...although one of the empty troughs has been blown over!

Hay in fields is fine as its in feeders....but theres hay all over the yard and my big round is now a big flop:mad:......

I thought someone had been 'funny' by nicking my CCTV sign but it actually has been blown right off the wall.....gawd knows where that is now.

I hate wind more than rain...if thats possible:(

it's much better here today, yesterday was better too - I actually got a ride in!

it's been awful though, lots of trees down and my garden is a complete state!

This is our fifth day of high winds and heavy rain. I chose today to get back in the saddle after 3 months off
Between the ice and snow and me falling and bruising my coccyx, it's been impossible to ride. :( Probably wasn't the wisest day to choose to bring him back into work!
He was jumping around like a ginnycock round the lanes, and if I dared put my leg on him, his back end was coming up
My two friends had a highly amusing time watching my horse performing, and spent most of the ride, chortling behind me. We've had 3ft leaps sideways and planting when the leaves have blown out of the hedgerows. He's snorted and been a right t*t all the way round.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself! More of the same methinks! :D

Another one from Essex, winds have been very bad. I hacked out yesterday ( Might not have been best idea as Horse not been ridden for past 2 weeks) But she was as good as gold, just a tad strong at times. Only issue we had was trying to close the gate behind us, I ended up having to dismout and close it.

Flipping gusty here, never knew I could move so quick with a bag of hifi on a trolley!! Hope it calms down supposed to be dressaging tom night, wont be towing if it is like this.

Anyone know when it is supposed to give in??

Worcestershire has been bad. Better now, but still don't fancy riding, too much flying debris! I don't fancy being added to it either.

I watched my poor little banty hens being blown across the patio this morning, looking at me like "HELPPP USSSSS". Bless.

Looks calmer outside now though.

First snow, then rain, now wind. So when exactly am I going to be able to ride my horses Mr Weather Man?!

annoyingly too windy.

I had intended on schooling, but decided against it this morning, as all the horses were high as a kite when being turned out and galloping round like nutters; tails up, snorting etc. The school is next to the fields, and with nearly 20 horses looning around I decided my chances of getting any sensible work out of my boy were quite slim.

I also decided against a road walk, as it's too windy to be safe. It would be just my luck a wheelie bin would blow over, as me and my horse were next to it - or a plastic bag would blow into my horses face.... arghhh!

after the last bucket skimmed my head, idecided it was hometime :D lol

my horse is in today and not being ridden as shes fine in wind.... but in the field they all go totally nuts (she loves her stable anyhow) so shes in :)

the horse took his head out of his feed bucket night before last, and it was gone down the other end of the yard- food eveywhere before he even realise. no dins dins that night :0

About the same here on the edge of the Fens. Random Flying Bantams; falling branches, plastic sheeting and cardboard boxes whizzing around from who-knows-where and 3 ponies definitely with the wind up their tail flaps.

I am NOT riding in it! Like SophieLouBee it seems months since I was last able to ride out without coping with 'inclement' weather. And it's not just me, Biscuit doesn't want to go out in it either!

Sorry but reading the above for some reason, read the plastic sheeting as - plastic & sheeping as in sheep- now i have visions of sheep flying around :D

its like the weather has been eating beans all week and letting it rip!! The bridges arel closed around us and we needed a high sided horse warning this morning, very very nearly got blown of my first one, horse only just made it round the bend on the gallops cos of the crosswind! He is 17.2hh and built like the proverbial brick house and he struggled! Didnt take any of the slighter ones after that, they would definately get blown over!!

Im on the North Wales coast and this morning we had gusts of 70mph +! Its been like this since friday, calmed down a bit on Saturday then picked up again yesterday and lastnight but has gone down a bit for now but Im sure it will be back.

Put my horse out this morning as I knew he would still be in the field this afternoon to bring in due to amount of mud sticking him to the ground ! No way of him blowing away!

Pretty windy.

The indoor sounds like it is about to take off! Very spooky

How messy does it make the yard!?! No matter how much you brush up, there seems to be double the amount of hay/shavings/leaves where you have just cleaned.

I went to a xc comp yesterday in these winds!

Parked the lorry on the side of the hill, and was sat in the cab getting sea-sick as it was rocking so much! Turned it into the wind in the end, as didn't want to risk putting the ramp down when it was moving so much.

Pony was a star though, didn't bat an eyelid at the wind (well it is out 24/7 so I should hope it would be used to wind by now, even if it is an ex-racer!)

Absolutely awful.I lost my field shelter today, it blew to pieces right in front of me. I'd just shoed the horses out and followed them into the field, turned around and it went. The roof fell on my fence and broke it, panels flew like paper across the field. Took me 2 hours to retrieve what I could store the bits safely. I'm totally fed up.
