The new yard beside her old one I have moved her to have a lot ****** stables. She is also in a biggerstable still as they only had a mare in foal one left. Could this be causing a chance in her stable manners as she is used to a smaller stable. Also she has always been on shavings and now she is now on straw, as the yard does not let you use shavings as it takes longer on the manure heap.

She may have been eating her straw before if she was only getting a small amount at her last home. The only way to really change this behaviour (if it's really ingrained in her you may not be able to) is to make sure she has more hay than she needs so she never runs out, as you have said she needs to gain weight so you shouldn't have an issue with feeding adlib hay (as in however much she needs whenever she needs it rather than weighing it)

Also is a sign of ulcers so maybe call the vet to check for that
