Wind turbines - responsibility

No Fan of this green energy etc as I dont think its as green as its made out(all target driven etc etc our industry got moved abroad due to electricity costs/labour costs and our pollution from our industrial areas went with it ie to China and India(coal powered & I have been and its appallingly filthy compared to 25 years ago) Anyhow regarding turbines I think the horses will have to get use to it, there is little any objections do to stop turbines/digesters etc etc its apparently green so it must be good(um). Unfortunately try to go out with bombproof and just get use to it. I would still write to raise your concerns just so its on file etc. The only winners are the providers and the landowner. We just pay for it all.
Yes well put.. sadly there is a deadly combination of vested intrests and gullible people I think there is light at the end of the tunnel with more people seeing the emperor isnt wearing any clothes.. and not afraid to chalenge the green lobby and their hiserical doom forcasts junk science and wild predictions.....

It is the same with cars, there is this massive push for electric cars with government offering subsidies etc with no acknowledgement that they are fundamentally impractical, wasteful, and still reliant upon fossil fuels. Resources would be far better concentrated on hydrogen fuel cells and bio fuels., but for some reason this is ignored......

To answer the original question:
The operators of the wind turbine are obliged to place insurance cover in place for the initial construction stage and life time of the wind turbine.
The greatest risk of a serious catastrophic accident occuring is during the construction stage when the blades are put in place as this can only be done when there is little wind otherwise they can break loose and cause serious damage as they take off.
If you or your horse suffered an injury as a result of the wind turbine then they would have insurance in place for you to claim from.
You should make quite sure that you ensure that an alternative route of byway status is put in place prior to the construction work being carried out so that all horse riders can still use the existing bridleway network. It is important that you write to the planners and make them aware of this prior to te closing dates for comments on the proposed wind turbines.

I don't see there being much of an issue unless your horse is spooky in nature. They do seem to adapt to wind turbines. It will be your responsibility to ensure your horse is introduced and desensitised to them in the end.
Unfortunately the climate is changing, there is alot of debate on the causes but the majority of scientists believe human activity has a large part to play in it. Wind power is just a part of the solution. I don't like them myself, I get the heebiegeebies when I see them, but I also accept they are necessary and a NIMBY attitude to these things isn't the way forward. I can not believe someone has actually said Chernobyl isn't significant, what a horrid attitude to have! Nuclear would have been the answer except for the problems of disposal, high level nuclear waste needs storing for anything from tens of thousands of years up to a million years!! How can anyone in all decency, lay this responsibility on future generations! The earth will change in this time not to mention countries, wars, terrorism etc etc. There is no way the waste can be managed safely this whole period of time. And we can't just blast it in to space, what happens if the rocket explodes on take off? I just think its abhorrent that in order for us to lead comfortable lives, we would risk the safety and quality of life of future generations by relying on nuclear. For info, am not a tree hugger, I love my car, love my creature comforts...but am a realist and alas, we all need to change to adapt to our ever changing climate...got me snow shovel out of the shed already!
