Has anyone else had crazy horses due to the wind?

Norman today led in as normal, so put him in stable to feed/change rugs. He took one mouthful of food then went to back of stable to look and stare out of window. Usually he will eat, eat and eat until it's all gone!

Then after an age I was leading him out and I could feel he was all tense and wasn't going to lead very well so I let him off in the field adjacent to his. He immediately started bucking and galloping and going completely crazy! Then he came galloping back to me only to stop, turn and off he went again!

Couldn't see him at the other end but sister said "he's in the other field!" So off I went to look and he'd jumped his metal gate, with rugs on, and managed to knock the bottom hinge off! Oops! Hoping he's more sane to ride tomorrow!

it certainly gets up my girls tail, they can be soooo silly with a bit of wind

) but i hopped on for the last 10 minutes, just to see how he was going. the wind picked up and it started to SNOW! and my friend was there, armed with a video camera, and she managed to get quite a big spook on camera

we were all laughing our heads off!

I rode this morning - madness, we got hit by incredibly strong winds (admit I was hanging on so I didn't get blown off LOL), sleet, snow AND hailstones...horses are OK though TBH, on their toes and hating every second - prob the worse riding conditions I have ever endured!

yes! its very frightening lol! i took my 15.3hh 5yo mare out first thing in the morning with unbroken weaned foals in the field opposite the road and the wind atacking us like no tomorrow! She was snorting at the foals and the wind was throwing us everywhere! she went jogging up the road with her head and tail literally 90degrees in the air! She started prancing, snorting her face off, tucking under and lifting up, throwing her quarters from side to side and trying to get me off at the same time to buck her face off lol! And then i was trying to talk to her but found my self fighting over the wind to get myself heard. What a picture ayy?? she didnt get me off, but she had a b****y good try, lol!

Yup, I put off riding my lad until this afternoon as it was seriously windy and he is a nana in the wind.

It looked like it had died down so we went out for a hack and then a nasty storm blew in. Snow, hail and gusty high winds.

We arrived back at the yard rather quicker than planned lol
