I was about to start a thread when I found yours ... no responses yet, so asking the same question - anyone got one? Any good? Does it work esp with large diurnal temp shifts like at the moment? My heaviest rug is 150, so 50 to 200 sounds ideal to me! Do they fit well? etc etc ect

Well it’s a brilliant idea if you have a hot horse like mine who is clipped and lives outside. He hates getting hot and is an itchy person.
It’s a good brand that sells good stuff
But 316 pounds and you would still need a hood it’s a huge sum of money for something that horses wear out side especially when they live in a group.
I would love one to try but I think it’s too much money .

That's my thoughts, goldenstar. My first thought was that I probably spend a lot more than that on all my individual rugs ... my second thought was I replace those individual rugs quite often due to heavy playing .... But SOME of my older rugs seem completely impervious to the heavy playing, like the 15yo Premier Equines and Rambos (the newer ones tear instantly) ... so it is clearly technically possible to make decent rugs.

Outlast has been around for years, I had something Equestrian with it in but damned if I can remember what it was. I do have an Outlast mattress cover and I think it makes a bit of difference.

I had Lansdown rugs which were Thinsulate lined (not the later versions that were half.Thinsulaye and the rest regular wadding) and they were versatile. I had summer rugs but otherwise turnout rugs were all one weight and I then had insulated and non-insulated neck covers just to tweak it a bit. Great system and if it wasn't for washing needs then one rug would have done it all.

I did end up with one with a fixed liner and one with removable and the removable was perhaps a smidge warmer, but not much different.
