Just wondering if anyone has used or knows of Windfall, his fertility and progeny's performance - specifically for embryo transfer so the semen needs to be top notch. Jaguar Mail would be my other choice as I know how good his frozen semen is but I like the idea of Windfall being a trakehner (she is part bred) and would appreciate any info! Any other stallion suggestions v welcome - to breed an eventer (obviously!!). No particular preference for breed (though I do like a wb cross) but proven performance and progeny performance v important.

have a look at cartherstone stud we have a mare by gold storm (she going to first ode 2moz) and she really nice jumps 3'6 with eis and hasnt bin jumping a year! just got a mare back that went to see some thing hit(cant remeber)so we have our fingers crossed for another stunner hope this helps

If you're liking Trakehner then you need to look at Grafenstolz, he's doin' it at 3* (although he did have a fall at F'bleau) and he's bagging alot of the same top mares that Jaguar is covering.

The fresh semen runs out at the beginning of next week, but frozen will be in the UK for Tuesday and both the fresh and frozen are superb quality.

Here's his link: http://www.frenchstallions.org/french_stallion_detail.php?stallion=2007025

900€ is a killer price.

My own Weston Justice is at Tremlows this season. He is 3/4star won advanced and bred in the purple for eventing. Although not WB is a loose elastic mover with an amazing trainable character.

If you like the Trakehner blood then yes Grafenstolz is a name that springs to mind, as does Axis http://www.gestuet-hohenschmark.de/vita_...php%3FWEBYEP_DI

This offspring move and jump and have super minds. He is winning at S level dressage currently. We have a 3yo filly by him here, who was loose jumping champion at last year's breed show as well as being a Champion show hack in hand!

Also look at Kasparow http://www.stall-eicke.de/en/stallions/kasparow.php and of course the great Sixtus himself http://www.gestuet-hoerstein.de/ They also have Windfall semen

Axis would be my choice. I did try to use Windfall semen, pm me if you'd like the ins and outs, but as I say Axis would be my choice.

thanks v much everyone for all the suggestions. I do like the look of Axis - your filly is cracking Volatis - but always thought of him more of a dressage than jumping sire? Grafenstolz is a big no Ken - her sire - but what would you think of a Grafenstolz/Jaguar Mail cross?

It's a good outcross and you're putting blood back in. Jaguar won't take away the movement that should already be in there and will add good temperament. Having two stallions that are either going to the Games this time or the next (Grafenstolz should be going to London) is no bad thing either, you'll have a very commercial foal that's for sure.

There is plenty of Fleetwater Opposition semen left and you cant fault what he is producing. He's a quality trakehner with many sucessful progeny out competing at top level.

Axis is actually jumping bred, he won the jumper title at his licensing, as have two of his sons (Ballzauber and Hirtentanz). Ballzauber was actually bought by Windfall's owner as a future eventing star. As i said that filly in the picture won the loose jumping at the breed show , as a 2 year old!! and won the loose jumping at East of England last year too
But Axis also has a super brain and excellent paces, so is persuing a dressage career. So you have movement, jump and a super brain. Plus he does throw super foals. A friend of mine is about to breed her mare to him for a cracking foal as he really did tick every box.

What about Summersong? Is he available at stud

I would like to use Axis - any chance of him being in the UK for a while

or does he have frozen available.

Or what about this Anglo Arab http://www.haras-champeix.com/chevaux-fiche.php5?id=4513&idGroupe=192 Presumably he is the same Tunes Of Glory who has frozen semen listed at West Kington Stud and does anyone know anything about him

firm, you can get chilled for Axis from Germany easily. No plans for him to come back to the UK just yet as the Germans are keen to hang on to him.

ASm, was being dense and didnt recognise your log in. Of course you have seen Portia before so know exactly what Axis produced in her.

Tell you another Trakehner who although young is a very exciting prospect from what i have heard - Contis at Godington Stud. Very modern elegant stamp, really jumps and being aimed at an eventing career. If you dont mind taking a gamble with a young stallion, he might be worth going and having a nosey at.

My old boss competed Tunes of Glory and actually has a youngster by him for sale at moment. I remember that when he was a foal he was stunning (possibly the nicest foal you'll ever meet) but he has grown up to be quite 'ordinary' ...still and absolute angel in every possible way and will make a fab RC horse but is for sale now as just not going to make it as a pros horse

Hi Volatis. Rather early I know(!!) - only just decided who to put her mother to this year - but thinking about an et project for next year and as I always like to go and see the stallions absurdly early in planning!

I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts as you've seen her. To breed a foal to sell, which stallion would you put her to? I like Axis very much but I have a feeling Jaguar Mail x Grafenstolz would be a blinder for sale if of course the match works aswell in the flesh as on paper. Obviously she has done zero herself (yet) but would like to a) get a foal on the ground early and b) prove our et skills!

for resale, and because I think the cross would work from a phenotype as well as genetic view, I think Jaguar Mail has to be high on your list.
Of course I havent seen JM in the flesh nor seen any of his offspring and I have seen Axis on a number of occasions and know his offspring very well. So I am pretty certain you would get something very classy from Axis, but JM is better promoted so if you can see him or his offpsring in the flesh, may be worth going for him.

Thanks for the PM JuliaFSH - will reply this eve.

I had already heard about Summersong's semen having thought about using him in the past.

I'm also usually quite open to young stallions if I like them enough and they really fit the bill but with this girl would like to go for a proven stallion.

Now I know a little more about Axis' jumping credentials and popularity I'll look in to him more. Can anyone confirm how good his semen is?

Ken - other than going to Beijing

, when is the best time to see Jaguar bearing in mind I'm not thinking of starting until next year? Could you let me know if he's likely to be jumping over here at any time? I've already seen Treloar (in fact behind us in the line up at the Pavo
grin.gif
- one up for Grafenstolz!) but is there any other older Jaguar offspring in this country you know of? Happy to be PM'd.

we might be breedingto axis within the next two weeks, so will let you know. He has plenty of foals on the ground in germany. Last year the stud dealing with him where not very good when it came to shipping it out, but he is based at a different stud this year
