Hi,
I am after a bit of advice and feedback on an injury my mare as picked up, she is a 17-year welshxarab ex brood mare, good fitness levels and good doer.
After a weeks holiday I rode my mare twice Tuesday in the school and saturday on a hack for approx 1.5hours approx 5-miles steady pace walking and trotting with 2-small canters.
When I came back to finish her off there was a largish windgall on her near hind, so I cold hosed and put a wet bandage round. Repeated this Sunday and Monday and turned her out on Tuesday AM as it had disappeared.
Tuesday night her leg was severly swollen all down the flexor tendon and around the fetlock (angular tendon). I repeated my previous treatment and gave her a bute and another this morning, as well repeating the cold hosing but removed the bandage - was this the right thing to do?
I have rung the vet and he is coming out tomorrow afternoon.
I intend to repeat the treat cold hosing, ice tighting and buting tonight - any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
