Window shopping - horses.

Sigh. I restrict my window shopping otherwise I would spend all day dreaming. My old lad is 23 and I won't get another one until he can't be ridden, unless something drops on my plate that's meant to be. I'm another PBA/Arab person, although for me they have to be small and sturdy types, like my lad's sire. (sire's pedigree here for anyone interested http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/presto22) and his dam was a solid decent unregistered welsh mare, section C from memory. I recently helped out bringing solid 16hh warmblood type back into work and actually enjoyed riding her more than I expected to. If I'd seen her advertised I'd have dismissed her as being 'too good' or too much horse for me. So maybe I should re-think!

I love looking at allbreeds pedigree - a bit addicted really. I spend (waste!) hours on there; esp looking at Arab lines, as I used to work at a stud and like to see if I can recognise any names from way back! Same re the 'too good' line of thought, mind you cost will be the major factor when I do eventually buy so 'too good' will likely be 'too expensive' anyway for me. Unless the lottery thing happens....(thanks for the idea Tobiano!)
Oh: heres a couple more, newly advertised, that I've spotted for my dream list - http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/clas...-quality-colourful-yearling-colts-470229.html

The horse in my OP has had his advert updated to 'must be gone by the weekend.' :( I do feel for the owner who has been made redundant, but sadly I can't buy the horse, even though I'd love to.

I'm very jealous. I live in London too and am decidedly NOT spoilt for choice for arabs and palominos to ride, and I love arabs more than almost anything in the world.

I think the sire obsession is because for the most part if you're obsessing over the sire, the already have the mare. The mare is the reality, it's already set in stone, but you can obsess over and dream about the unknown quality to your heart's content.

You may notice that I never, ever post but I was browsing the forum after 'window shopping' for the perfect teensy tiny show pony... for my currently 9-month-old twins. Yes, they definitely don't need a pony just yet - but mama does, apparently! Somebody find me the perfect lead-rein pony for tinies and then finance its upkeep until they can at least sit on it unassisted, please!

I actually know one arab gelding and one palomino (welsh cob) mare who just dropped a sharer each... Not my horses but I could put you in touch with their owner if you'd be interested! There's a really nice little pony there too (not for sale but could be for share in the future..).

I am going to a dealer, Kentonwood, in Liverpool on Friday. I liked his style, "we have 20 odd that may suit you, come and have a rummage round." They seem to have some nice comments on HHO, so we will see.

Oh my God, sounds like my idea of heaven, I would love that so much! I'm hoping my friend, who is looking for a bigger horse for jumping, will take me along for the ride when she goes to see some. I love looking at potentials!

Oh, I wish. Sadly between the job and the babies I just wouldn't be a reliable sharer right now. Thank you very much for the offer though!

I click on ones I like the look of on the right side of the page. My horse is 22 now; she's sound as a dollar *knocks on some wood* and going well, but at some point in the next 5-10 years, she will slow down and need to be retired. I wish I could buy a two year old or a yearling now, and let it chill in a field, then bring it on slowly, and by the time my Shire cross mare is ready for retirement, the youngster will be ready to go.

It's a great plan; if only I could afford to keep two! Maybe some day....
