Anybody else from here entered this year?

I have always wanted to compete at Windsor so have taken the plunge and got my entry in. Will we place? More than likely not but I am looking forward to the Pimms, photos by the Thames and a nice day out.

Not long to go now, I can feel the nerves kicking in already!
 
Yes am doing the veterans on Wednesday - first year as a veteran for mine. Windsor was about the fifth show ever I did with my previous horse - talk about throwing into the deep end but it was a good day out. He competed there several years but never got the by the Thames photo. Good luck and hope you have a lovely day.

Its his 4th show, he is pretty unflappable about arenas etc. We have been doing lots of clinics at various places and he is more than happy to be ridden by anyone and everyone. He will still be hunting 3 weeks before and is coming to end of his first hunt season. I think he will be quite happy and the arenas are lovely which is why I thought it would be a good show for him although we will be outclassed I think!
 
Sounds like you have him very well prepared. Just to say allow lots of time - they operate a system where you get effectively a voucher for your pass so you have to go to a building in the car park to get your passes and if your class is late in the day and you are parked a long way from it, it can take quite a time. I'd have liked to book a stable so horse could stay in that for the day as our class is early but couldn't justify the price along with the enormous entry fee!
 
Ensure he is well balanced and beautifully schooled, the rings are small so anything running on the forehand or getting strong will be in trouble. Have an assortment of studs on the truck and get your groom to put them in your kit bag in case you need a change of plan ringside.

Allow lots of time, the truck will be miles away from the ring. It is not a class with lots of buzzing atmosphere so unless your horse struggles with horses up his backside and getting crowded he will be fine.

Take you own food/drinks the prices are outrageous.

Adorable Alice - luckily we’ve been for the last two years to watch and last year went with a friend who was showjumping so got a gauge for how far away the lorry will be! I’ve mainly chosen this show as the hunters are in the sand arena which is huge, I thought best not to worry him with a small ring as he can be a little bit of a worrier with people getting up his bum and is still a little green but honest, I should be able to give myself a good bit of room in there. We ate there last year....had to remortgage the house haha!
 
Improved since I was there then ! we were on grass for the weights. At least you are sure of good ground regardless of the weather. The last two years I had a horse there was two extremes, rock hard and a bog.

When we went in 2016 (maybe 15) the hunters were on grass! Last year in the big sand arena which is lovely!
