Is anyone else fed up with the number of promotional e-mails they are sending out, everyday I am opening up my e-mail to find they've sent more. I have bought my tickets.

Is there loads of unsold tickets left and they are hoping I might buy more for other days or what........

Sorry rant over.

If thats the situation i'm not surprised tbh as they are so expensive, and I know people put off by the costs.

It will be a shame to potentially have empty grandstands when everyone is trying to promote equestrian sport as something good to be involved in. It makes the sport look unpopular.

Wonder how many more thay would have sold by now had the venue been more centrally located in the country? I thought of going but to do what I want to see would mean 3 or 4 days away plus hotel costs, etc. Had it been more midlands, even Glos I would have gone down from home on consecutive days, ditto probably 20 + people have mentioned to me they would have gone - but for the location.

I don't get the location problem personally - Windsor's got some fantastic travel links via trains and motorway and there's a Travelodge opposite the Castle entrance which booked early enough in advance you probably would have got a room for a very reasonable amount.

It's FAR more easier going to Windsor for 4 days than it is for Badminton for example if you don't want to camp or don't have provision to stay in a lorry.

Or could another problem be that because its televised people are able to see it without the expense and needing to take time off work.

You wouldn't get the atmosphere of the live performance and given the televised Hickstead was as exciting as double maths on a tuesday, people may put up with that because they can see it better.

Who knows. I do think they would have to tread carefully about offering reduced price ticket seats as that could set a precedent and people won't pay full price for other events thinking the price will come down again so we'll wait. Then organisers will lose money and not know the attendance figures very early.

Coverage could be an issue actually; it's the weeekend before most kids go back to school; it's bank holiday weekend as well etc etc

Far easier for you if you are close to a main line station. Personally myself and everyone I have spoken to do not want the hassle of getting to and from train stations, changing trains once or twice. I travel to Windsor several times a year for various events and the roads in and out are a nightmare at times. Last month it took 3 hours to go 2.5 miles on a weekday after leaving the site.

There is a selection of potentially excellent venues they could have utilised in more central UK locations.

Ticket sales have been shocking for the Show Jumping - looking at nearly empty stands the whole week, even for the final day

. Dressage sales have been better but still only 70% sold for the Saturday Kur night. Not good.

Ticket sales position is sadly not too surprising in credit crunch times - it's not just the UK that's affected. And I'm sorry to say that British shows usually charge more than their European equivalents.
