I currently have Ben in a bates, however it's a momentum so it's a jumping saddle which isn't very practical for everyday use and schooling. I've been trying to sell it, but at the same time, keeping a north eye for any bargains that appear. I've seen a Windsor saddle, it's black, but I don't particularly care about the colour for his everyday saddle, and it's up for £80, looks in good nick too from the pics. However, for the last 12 years, it's pretty much been wintec and bates in general for me so I have no idea or experience of these saddles.

Can anyone give me their experiences/opinions on Windsor saddles?

Hmm, just had a further look, they are only an extra £20-30 to buy new, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I suppose ill just have to keep looking :(

Sometimes it's better to stick with the makes you know & trust. Bates & Wintec, although advertised to be adjustable to fit any horse, don't suit some horses but if you've been happy with the fit for the last 12 years on your horses then try & buy one of those makes. :)

There is a reason I'm not buying another bates or wintec, the style I want isn't done by them. I want to buy one saddle in a particular style that can be used both daily and for shows/competitions at local level, this would mean a nice working hunter saddle, which wintec and bates do not do.

I'm not clueless about saddles, the makes and the fit or how to fit even the pros and cons of wintec and bates, ijust posted this as Windsor were a complete unknown to me. But then so were bates, and wintecs and not to mention our local SOS saddles at one point, when you don't know about a brand, it doesn't automatically mean you stay away from it, it just means you ask around and approach with caution.

Edited to say that while I'd rather just buy one saddle, I'm not averse to having a show one and an everyday one, so I'd get a wintec 2000 as an everyday saddle, but that still leaves me with a need to buy a non wintec/bates saddle for showing. Working hunter but as straight a cut as possible, in a wide fit, that will be smart enough to show in but not break the bank!

I've scanned ebay and it does look like grot from India, but for anyone else who stumbles across a nice looking Windsor saddle, I'm on an American forum and they talk fondly of Windsor Blue and Green Line, they seem to be decent saddles.
