Has anyone got/or had a horse that windsucks? Would you ever have a horse the windsucks? Were you able to compete your horse? And what did you to to try and stop it windsucking?

any other info would be great thanks

Yes i have and it was never a problem, except she wrecked all the fencing! A coller worked on her, but had to be really tight, so i didnt usually bother, they arnt normally worth much unless they are very good so can be a good buy.

Whisk windsucks and it used to cause huge problems. He coliced at least once a month. When we nearly had to send him to Leahurst I decided enough was enough. We had a metal door top made. It is too wide for him to get hold of and it stopped him...compeltely in the stable. He does it occasionally on fence posts in the field but that's it. Yes we compete...badly!!

I have a windsucker - it an be a tad annoying but isn't any detriment to the horse - the vet that did the 5 stage vetting said that it was not a problem to the horse, just the owner! and that there was no reason not to buy him as he is a cracking little horse.

other people have made a few comments about it, but my YO is not bothered by him doing it. My dad had a windsucker years ago and used to compete him and hunt him without any problems.

Friends horse that I look after and compete is a windsucker. He has to be in a barred up stable, and he does do it a bit in the field which loosens the rails which is a bit annoying!

Doesn't effect his weight, he does fairly well, and doesn't effect his work at all. He's affiliated SJ and at the moment I'm preparing to do BD. One day if I'm brave enough I want to BE.

Star windsucks a little if she get's nervous. She'll even do it while ridden. It sounds like a little burp. She keeps her weight and and has never colicked.

I've one but he pushes his chin over the door and presses the door towords him.It didn't bother me in the slightest what he wants to do in his spare time is up to him really

However,he started to colic intermitantly so we had to resort to a miracle collar.
It looks horrid! But i'd rather he didn't end up at the vets......or worse
