I was just wondering how much would windsucking devalue a horse e.g. say you had a price which it would be worth if it didn't windsuck, how much would you take off? £1000 etc?
Say a 7 yo BSJA got his DC's BN and a few winnings, now jumping Disc and will be NC by time he will be for sale.
Brilliant hack,box,shoe,clip 100% to do.
Super XC, decent flatwork coming 3rd with 65% in first ever test
15.2
Ok so this has kinda turned into a how much but i was just wondering if people thought a windsucker should be worth 3000 less than what it would be if it wasn't a windsucker for example....suppose it does depend on other things..
I think some people are to quick to judge horses with vices, and certainly use it to de-value a horse. There are treatments that the vet can give your horse to rule out ulcers as a cause of windsucking.
With the example you have given I wouldn't even worry about the windsucking, certainly wouldn't see it as a big bargaining point..in fact I think windsucking is a bigger issue for lower level less competetive horses, in less knowledgable yards. It is not so unusual in competition horses, I think
my yard is a comp yard and the last windsucker got asked to leave as the baby horses started to copy him (they have stopped now he has gone...) So I couldnt look at him however on his form I would advertise him for a good price on ad put 'has been seen to windsuck' that way you know if they call they know already and would be prepared to pay...
