Windy old night - hw many of you have brought your horses in?

My hunky hairy cob is out running free in his huge field where he can run away form any trouble - he will be fine, i can sleep peacefully - hes a horse!!!:D

Ours are in, but not to do with the wind. We brought them in at night a week ago (much to my dispair!) because the fields were getting a big soft and wet, and we have one who is ridiculously prone to mud rash. It starts if he stands in wet conditions, let alone mud. Also they had to move out of the summer field, which is the only one with decent shelter, so we gave in and brought them in at night - a month before we'd hoped. :(

I wouldn't worry at all about them being out in high wind generally. In fact, everything is rattling so much down at the stables that they'd probably rather be out!

Safer outside than in at the moment!! they can run away in the field if they feel the need, they can't run in a stable without causing themselves considerable damage!!Theres a huge oak tree overhanging my stables and the sound of the acorns on the roof are bad enough without thinking what would happen if a branch came down and a horse was in the stable:eek: Mine are all completely nonplussed by the wind, i've made sure anything likely to get blown around like empty buckets and barrows are safely away in the empty stable and left them to it.

sorry if threat of gale force winds mare is out as mmmm she safer there where she can hear wind than in a barnwhen roof could come off - debris flying - sorry out even in worst winds as she is a horse and understands weather better than us :)

All 3 of mine are still out without anything on - as someone said, they spend a lot more time out in the elements and understand it on a level we never will really.

Oh dear.

I'm an extremely bad mum..... Not only is my wb x mare out in her field on the side of a derbyshire hill but I didn't even consider not putting her out! :o

Luckily she doesn't give a nark! She didn't even look at the flapping plastic on the haylage and ambled off quite happily when we put her back out.

mine is out with a medium weight turnout with neck (yes she is spoilt) but her field is in a very exposed position (practically moorland height) and she has no shelter and the other week she cam ein shivering when it was raining and very windy when she had a lightweight on!

All out some tbs inducted it's not cold or wet just been and checked them fine munching grass to be honest they would be more unhappy if I bought them in

All of ours are in tonight even the hairys, The fields are very exposed and were forecast gusts of up to 78/8o mph here in the north west  All our fields are partitioned with electric fencing. Im happier with them in munching hay in the shelter, than worrying about them frightening themselves with flapping electic tape of flying branches.

Both are out, tb is in a lw just to stop the wind and id is naked. It's very windy but not cold. Tb isn't in winter routine yet so if he came in he'd just scream all night and get his knickers in a knot. Therefore they're much safer and happier out. Just been and checked them, they were down the bottom of the field scoffing away not bothered at all! It's bonfire night I worry about more!!

Mine is out. Its safer out.
He can be a bit soft so I thought about sticking a rug on...

Then I saw one of the other liveries rugs flapping about, lifting up and generally giving their horse a great big wedgie!!:D:eek:

Its not that cold and not even that wet. I've been outside in a t shirt all day. I think a rug would just be annoyin

Thoroughbred is in as he has no friends out with him, my mare is out with a couple of mares so left her out, and yearling doesn't have a choice although my friend found him and his 2 buddies hiding in the stable that they have a free run off, all hiding from the wind and rain!! I think he is trying to say something!! lol

Mine are in, gelding was eyeing up the fence last night, pacing up and down. As soon as I brought him in he settled.
Can't leave the girly out without him or she will bring herself in :-)

What?? You mean you didn't bring them in the HOUSE??? Mine are all in the living room in front of a roaring fire drinking hot chocolate.

You are all wicked!
