just popped into my local feed shop and they had a bag of winergy growth open, so had a good look, and sniff and read the jargon,,,, couldve eaten it myself!!!!! my 3 year old has been, and done well on a baileys stud bal, but due to pro levels ive decided to change his feed, put him on youngstock supplement NAF and he hated it!!! (He eats anything inc feed with bute and anti'bs in) so decided to give this winergy stuff a go, but am gonna mix with a hoof kind chaff as quite concerntrated feeding levels!! anyone have any experiences with this feed good or bad????

Yes... I feed it to one of mine who is prone to gastric ulcers / colic and - touch wood - she's been fine since changed to this feed. Can't recommend it highly enough :-)

I have both my horses on it and wouldnt swap for anything else.

Darcy is Case Study 10 on the website, he has intollerances and since going on Winergy he is like a different horse.

Pinky is on Growth as she is having a growth spurt (grown up 2 inches since Jan - she is 5) and she had gone all thin and gangly, its keeping her weight nice without giving her too much energy.

I also like fact you dont need to feed anything else, no adding beet or supplements, its all already in there.

I bulk mine out with Ultra Grass, the recommended amount was a little too much for my two!

So many people had had such good results with it that i'm gonna put my ex racer on it very soon. I went on the website and emailed them for some advice, a lady from the company emailed me back and she couldn't have been more helpful, she really went out of her way to help

I think it is quite a good feed to feed a young horse, however I find it a little too pricey at nearly £11.50 per 15kg bag to feed continuously all year round. I think you would get as many benefits feeding Alfa A Oil with a good cube/mix and codlivine powder to be honest and it would cost you a lot less!

I feed this to my mare, the low equillibruim as only 5% starch as she is quite a fizzy horse, and it's fab feed, does the job for me.

I disagree!! i've yet to find a mix or cube which is as low in starch and high in oil as winergy equilibrium and couldn't recommend it highly enough!!!!

I'm trying out the medium energy one on my eventer now - he loves it and licks the bowl clean. I will say, they are very optimistic about how much you need to feed - by their reckoning I should be getting through over 1 15kg bag a week!! I don't think so, I like my life and I don't want my horse the size of a house. So far he is happily novice eventing on half a scoop a day, so I reckon the bag will last well over a month!

thanx guys thats gr8, one more que then, how much do you pay for a bag???

oooo and i like the novice eventa on half a scoop a day, thats proof that u dont need to feed in huge amounts to still get great results, !!

glad you all were mostly positive as ive bought 2 bags already!!!

Have used the growth for my broodmare and youngstock and also the low energy mix for the 4 yr old. They love it. have just been asked to take part in a trial for a new conditioning mix they are bringing out.

Just over a tenner a bag. I am convinced people (sweeping generalisation alert!) overfeed their horses - mine evented last summer, mostly PN and a few Ns at the end of the season on half a scoop of pony nuts a day! I've only moved onto the winergy because I prefer a fibre based feed and was giving instant response cubes for more sparkle in the dressage, so figured medium energy would do the job just fine. He is absolutely fine on it and stormed round Longleat novice last weekend then dragged me back to the box....maybe I need to be fed some?!

I've tried it but to be honest wasn't too impressed. Horse didn't always eat it all andn I found it quite expensive. Went back to the Top Spec conditioning cubes I used before, which did the job just as well and works out cheaper. Personally I didndt find my horse any calmer on the Winergy than on the Top Spec.

My 6 year old rather sensitive gelding has been on it for about 3 months (the low starch one) and he's a very different horse! He looks fab, is much calmer in his attitude and eats it all up! I pay about £9.50 a bag for it, I've found that the price really varies as not everyone stocks it, although I've been told that if they stock Spillers they will be able to get Winergy as it is apparently the same company. I don't think it's expensive as I no longer feed any supplements, garlic, oil, alfalfa etc.

i have fed the growth to both my shetland filly and my TB ex racer

the shetland looked well on it, she was on it for abouts 6 months and kept her looking well without putting on too much weight. ive now changed her on to d&h suregrow as it works out so much cheaper and does seem to be doing the same job

my ex racer has intolerances and was on the winergy for about 4 months. it did a good job in settleing his tummy and the change in his temperament was amazing. however i had to take him off it when bringing him back into work as he started to drop weight again despite being on maximum amount of growth. so it only worked for him while he was not in work

My ex racer is on the winergy senior (although she is not a senior) the helpline advised me to put her on it due to the low levels of starch in it. She is looking great and it has improved her temperament. She still has energy but is less spooky than she was.
I pay 9.99 per bag. I still put a little bit of speedi beet in as she likes a moist feed.
I will be sticking with it. Phone them for advise, they are really helpful.
good luck
