How did everyone get on with it? According to the weight tape mine put on 20 kg. Looks very well on it considering that in the last 2 months she has had a fractured jaw (still wired), a cut hock which took ages to heal and got impaled on a rope hook and subequently got a mouth abcsess!!

I didn't weigh mine

but they do look much better on it - almost sorry that I'm just about out of it....

My girl has put on weight but is still 'pointy' around her rump and shoulders - think this could just be immaturity and lack of muscle.....not sure how she is going to react when it runs out though...am going to have to wean her off it!

It was a new conditioning feed, alfalfa based so complete. The recommended quantities were HUGE - 4.5kgs per day for my horses but I think it could be cut down a bit once you'd got them looking right.

I was v. impressed (once I'd got the horses to eat it which took a week or so!)

Mine wouldn't eat the full amount, but she would eat more of this than the Alfa A I was giving her. She had been picking out the small amount of conditioning mix I was putt ng in to make it tasty & leaving the Alfa A (grass is so much tastier). It don't like to use too much cereal based feed in the summer as she gets too much oomph. It was a nice soft texture & smells nice. She has put on weight, but to be honest we have so much more grass than usual this year I don't know whether it's the feed or that. Would definitely look to using it in the winter though.
I cut down what I was feeding to what she would eat so I still have over a bag left. She's a nice weight now so I shall just give her a little bit to put her supplements in.
She's just been diagnosed with arthritis & I'm having to give her bute for farrier visits. I did that in marmite sarnies so I didn't upset the trial. Now I can see if she will eat it with bute in.

My gelding put on weight over the 4 weeks, I have 1 day left so will be weighing tonight, he looks well, energy is good (bit bouncy if anything, but this is a good thing for him) Coat is glossy and gorgeous, he's now covered and well but not fat.

My mare has improved, her coat is better and she has put on weight, but still doesn't look good, for her I think at the rate I was feeding (5kg a day), I'd have expected at least as much weight gain from most feeds. I'm a little concerned that the cost would be prohibative, but maybe she's put on more than I think so will reserve judgement until she's weighed.

We have sparse grazing, but I have 2 other mares not on the feed trial, who look very well. All 4 are trakehner/lightweight types.

Ohh, to add to my post, I'm rather pleased now I've weighed them.

Charly had put on 29kg and Salad 26kg. So I take back what I said - wish they were on it for another month - feed will be finished tomorrow night, so I must have got my weighing slightly out with the scoops.

I love it very sad it's finished like wise tho had a hard time persuading my tb that he had to eat 5kg of feed a day so prob only ended up getting between 3.5-4kg in him but can see such a difference. would love to keep him on it but going on the prices of the others it's hard to justify spending £11 on a 15kg sack - just need to marr a feed man I guess!!!!
