Does anyone know about the "scientific proof" for this product.

Had a look at the Winergy website and found it somewhat vague.

Has the "science" be published? All the "scientific" claims for beauty products have made be a tad cynical unless I can see how the data was achieved.

No disrespect to Winergy or indeed any of the many many companies that make various supplements but most haven't been subjected to rigorous scientific testing. I've said this before (and apparently "offended" some people) and will say it again: if you give your horse a supplement and it improves after eating it, the temptation is to believe that the supplement caused the improvement. Sadly, this is not necessarily so. There are many conditions, problems etc that horses (and people!) get that improve on their own. And it's also worth remembering to never, ever underestimate the power of a placebo. The ability of placebos to make a real difference IS well documented scientifically, on people! The only product that I know of that has been rigorously tested to repeatable scientific standards is Cosequin. Not saying that's the only one that HAS been tested but it's the only one I know of.
 
I must agree with box of frogs. I'm a psychologist and the placebo effect is well researched. It's all too easy to perceive that if you are paying for a supplement that you are indeed going seeing an improvement in your horse, it is often very difficult to quantify such improvements, owing to any number of variables that could have improved a condition.

However, I feed supplements for a piece of mind, as I feel that I am trying at least attempting to solve a problem (even if I know I might be wasting my money). Would be an interesting research study to see if horse owners believe 'placebo' supplements have a positive effect on there horses.
 
I never found a difference in my horse when I fed him ventilate, however he was a roarer so I kept him on it just incase what they said about it was true, right until he had his tieback an hobday op, and just after.

I too sure the placebo effect has an affect however have heard a lot of people whose horses suffer copd swear how good it is, which is why I continued to feed it to my boy just in case.
 
Hi all - i USED to work for the company that owns Winergy (so completely impartial now!) and yes, it has had 'scientific research' conducted on it - contact Waltham if you are interested in reading it - or perhaps contact the careline, they should be able to get their hands on something for you

I've fed it and found it to be really beneficial to my pony with pollen related allergies
 
hey i'm a vet, i understand the placebo effect, but strangely enough every time i put mine on Winergy Ventilate he can breathe more easily and stops coughing up gunk. I didn't expect it to work the first time as I'm truly sceptical about all supplements so there was no placebo effect. I have actually read a paper they published on it too with evidence it made a difference.
 
I believe there is a paper about the levels of vitamin E and also the way of uptake and how there is optimal absorption and efficacy of the form or way the vitamin E is abvailable in Ventilate (or about absorption directly into the lung lining). Sorry I can't really remember but there is a paper I think - if you call the careline and request to see it I reckon they will be able to help.
