Hi all,

Not sure where's best to post this. I went to a pilates / alignment class yesterday which was great. We were shown how to do lots of exercises and my god am i stiff around my hamstrings and lower back! Anyway we all took turns sitting on our saddles and our position assessed and adjusted. The pilates teacher was surprised to find my right shoulder blade sticks out more than my left and recommended i see an osteo. I have no pain, i didn't even know about it! Google tells me it's a winged scapula normally an old injury. I've fallen off like you do when you're a kid, and been lifted off the ground by rearing pony but never been to hospital as never that much pain the next day. What would you do?

I have a winged scapula too. I only found out when i went to see a physio around Christmas time with shoulder pain at the front. Turned out i had tendonitis across my collar bone, so unrelated but she picked up on the scapula and also said likely to be an old shoulder injury and suspected I had a rhomboid (sp?) muscle injury there which may explain odd pains i get in my shoulder blade sometimes, oddly in the middle of the night! I got some ultrasound and massage from her and yes, I plan to go and see my osteopath who has been brill at fixing my mis-aligned pelvis also eek - horses eh? I wouldnt have bothered but i dont want to end up with more problems later on.

Hello SWD. I have this problem along with various other muscular skeletal issues. Mine however does give me pain and means I struggle on one rein because I cannot put that shoulder back properly. I visit my chiropractor regularly to keep on top of it. Even after it has been corrected, it eventually moves out of place again. If yours is giving you no bother at all you may want to consider whether its worth getting it corrected. Osteo or chiro can prove expensive if you have to repeat treatments and sometimes "fixing" one problem causes something else to go to pot.
