Wintec 500 Cair or Flock which is better

Cair every time for me. I know quite a few people will diagaree with me in here. I have two one old one and one very new one. Cair is much more forgiving than flocking as it moves with the horse you also don't get the same pressure issues. The more recent ones are very adjustable with inserstd front and back I wouldn't choose flock over cair if i had a choice. my old one is now 9yrs old used on many horses over the years with no problems

sorry meant to post in NL

If you HAVE to go down the Wintec route (and yes I do own a dressage 500 as well as a lovely leather saddle) then I would choose flair myself.

But just be aware that despite Wintec's claim that they 'suit any horse due to the interchangeable gullet' this is not necessarily the case, and if you have a horse that has a fit that leans towards the 'not bog standard back shape' then I would advise you strongly to not go down the Wintec route. An example of such - a horse with high withers but a medium wide back would not be suitable for a Wintec due to the differing fit requirements for withers and back so think carefully before you buy if your horse fits the non bog standard back shape.

Flock.
It can be adjusted and is forgiving, whereas in my experience, Cair is hard. Don't confuse it with Flair which is very different.

Is Flair sealed air bags that are adjustable? and cair is certainly non adjustable. Having seen the Cair inserts (as above) I would never have Cair, the inserts overlap slightly causing a possible pressure point and I have been told that they often deflate slightly and unevenly (as was the case on my saddle). I think Flair must be just as hard as air in a sealed bag is not soft under pressure, it has no "give" in it which flock does as air is pushed out of the fibres.

Cair insersts dont over lap they are like shims in an ajustable prolite pad I can't see what you mean unless you are talking about something else. I have never had or in fact known (I work on a very big yard and have sevral of different ages) And cant say any have deflated or gone down. we do have one flair saddle (which im not so keen on as far too soft for my liking doesn't have enough air to absorb any bounch although the horse never had any back issues and seemed happy enough). The only problem i have had with any wintec or cair saddle is that the ends of the tree points are plastic and these do break off I have sent one back to wintec and they just seemed to round them off so not sharp havent with other saddles as it makes no difference to the fit it just keeps the tree points in pockets.
