Hi there

I've been offered a wintec 500 dressage saddle for a good price by a friend as it was too big for their pony. Struggling to decide about it. I already have the wintec 500 GP which I hate riding in as I feel it puts the rider in a bad position. This makes me a bit nervous to pick up another wintec. But this is the dressage model so a little different.

Has anyone got one/ridden in one? How are they?

Thanks!

I rode in one once and hated it

Same saddle as the 500, just with dressage flaps on it! (p.s the 2000/pro are the same saddle made of different material so don't look at them either!).

I'm not specifically looking for a new saddle as new boy is only 3 and being a connemara he's not going to finish chunking out for a while yet, so am just putting up with horrible gp saddle as it fits him ok and can be adjusted as he grows. Just wondered if this saddle, since it's floating about the yard, would be any nicer to ride in.

Sounds like it won't be any better then. Thanks!

Sorry, but I disagree! I had the Wintec 500 GP and it truly is awful, but I found the 500 dressage really quite good. The key thing is to sit in it yourself. I had limited experience of top-end dressage saddles at the time I trialled the 500 dressage, so nowadays I'd probably flip up my nose at it, but at the time I adored it! The seat was not the same as the 500 GP (yuck yuck yuck), although if you can stretch to one, I would advise you totrade up and try a Wintec Isabell.

I have one, I bought it with the proceeds of selling a Platinum Albion SLK Ultima - one heck of a downsize - and I hardly miss my Albion at all! The Isabell has as nice a seat as the Albion but weighs about a quarter of the weight. You can pick up at second-hand Isabell for £375-395. Wintec has also redesigned its dressage saddles, so there is new 500 dressage as well as a version with the countourblocs.

In short, I'd have a sit in that saddle and see what you think.

I have a Wintec Isabell dressage saddle, and i have to say i love it, i'm not sure if its the same as the 500 (i think it just has a fancy covering) but it fits me really well, (5'5ish, size 8ish)
