Now that I have sold Harry, mum said i can have some of the money as i was the one who put in all the work with him (the rest we are going to keep to go towards my next horse!). We decided to get a dressage saddle with that money, for Tara. As dressage isn't my main discipline, i don't want to spend too much on a saddle. So what are your opinions on the wintec 500 dressage saddle? It is a nice price and i have heard good reviews, but what do you think? as i said, i don't mind that it isn't real leather as i wont use it THAT much. Or do you have any other recommendations in the same sort of price range (i don't mind second hand, my max budget is about £500-£600 but would rather not pay that much..).
Thanks

I have a wintec 500 dressage, it is very comfy and my OH learned to ride in it, he found it very secure.

Im selling mine soon bcause Im getting a leather VSD (makes more sense than having a GP and dressage LOL) but yes I can highly recommend them!

I have one, really really like it. Only thing I would say is if you like to be held into a position the Isabelle would be much better.

Have you looked at Ideals? The Jessica is really nice and within your budget 2nd hand, like this one-

They are lovely saddles, excellent quality. I have a GP but I know a few forum members have the dressage, I think P_G has one.

Personally, I really don't like it. Doesn't feel like a proper dressage saddle and put you in the right place. Ride a horse in one, and compared to more other dressade saddle in doesn't give you the right feel. You would be better off spending a bit more and buying an Isabelle Werth which is better designed and gives you a better feel.

i have a thorowgood t4 dressage saddle, and its wonderful! they dont make the t4 anymore i dont think, but you can get the t6 (which would be in your budget range).

i tried all the synthetic dressage saddles, and didnt really like any of them. but the isabell is defintely the nicest.
i felt that the 500 wasnt supportive enough, plus it has a really small weight bearing area as it has tiny panels, so sort of just perched on the horse. anyways thats my opinion, but i would deffo go for 2nd hand leather, plus itl have a higher re sale value.

The 500 is horrible, I found it so slippy (I don't like any of the Wintec equileather saddles). I have a Wintec Pro which is the same as a 500 but covered in equisuede which is MUCH nicer! Mine was £400 new (with CAIR). As others have said though, try an Isabell and see if you like it, they go for peanuts on eBay second hand and are really lovely (*if* they're your kind of thing). Otherwise try some second hand leather ones, I'd love an Ideal as I find them SO comfy.

I didnt like the 500 but I had a wintec Pro dressage which is slightly narrower in the waist and covered in suede which helps with grip as the equileather can be slippy. I got mine second hand and even the new ones are within and under your budget.

I inherited one with my old welshie...hated the thing. It slipped and rolled and wasn't terribly comfy either. Also rather prone to losing its headplate screws etc. However it may be totally different on a TB type.
