I'm looking to buy a new saddle and can't seem to work out the differences between the wintec 2000 and the wintec 500? Also are there different age models of each as I'm hoping to buy second hand but don't want to end up with a really old style!

The wintec 2000 has a suedey seat and and leather girth straps the 500 doesn't, that's the only differences I've noticed. Sure someone else could give more details lol

2000 and 500 are identical apart from the material used.

The older style, commonly seen, 500/2000 are rubbish saddles that rarely fit anything except TB's. There is a older range before those were made (non changeable gullets) but you'll be hard pressed to find one as they are rare!
the newer model, released a few years ago has pimpled inside to the panels and a shaped shirt. Once you've seen one, they're distinctive. They are a very different design in terms of fit and fit many horses far better than the horrid older model. The 500 and the Pro 2000 are again the same saddle, just different materials.

Thanks for this, I like the idea of the 2000 with the nice suede seat!! Is there an easy way to tell the new style from the old if I'm buying online from ebay for example?

500 and 2000 are not the same, 500 is budget model, less comfy for rider, less deep, synthetic girth straps, 2000 has suede seat, aother layer of padding in the seat, is deaper, slightly more forward cut and has the leather girth straps :) i agree that the older models are awful , the newer ones are lovely. Newer ones have more "plush" knee blocks, they are shaped on the outside (not just with the block underneath) also if you check the serial number it will start with WIP or under the gullet will have a badge saying "easy change fit solution" if its the newest model (end 2012/2013), but the model before this was VERY similar and they look the same on the exterior :) (sorry no idea how to resize the pics off google!)

Main thing to look for ( esp if going by pictures) is the distinctive skirt and kneeroll. If you get to see the underside, the newer model has pimpled surface to the panels. The price will be a give away too! The older models are worth about £100-150 (although some people still want a ridiculous £300+). You'll be lucky to find the newer model for much under £300 secondhand.

In terms of fit, both the older 500 and the 2000 ARE exactly the same. It's only the external cosmetics that differ. They're not more forward cut (although the differ shape of the knee roll material makes them look so) and the tree is the same shape (i.e seat isn't deeper), there's just a little more foam. They do have nicer leather girth straps but they're still the same size, shape and position.

Ditto the newer models although I'm pretty sure the new 500 has leather straps (friend had 2 and I ride in then regularly but can't remember)
