Have never been a fan of synthetic saddles (although I know they are a lot better these days

) but lack of funds

is pushing me towards one and I just wondered if anyone had anything good or bad to say - are they really as adjustable as they say and has anyone got one with Cair? Thanks!

cant comment on the wintec, but i have a thorowgood dressage saddle with the Fish and its WONDERFUL! aleady i have changed the width, to accomodate the change in Elz as she got fitter. i would recommend, definitely - limited funds were my reason too, as iv always been a leather snob in the past! go for it!

I have a wintec dressage, Beau seems to like it, OH learned to ride in it, its his fave saddle!

They are adjustable, however Beau has filled out so much that he is wider than the extra wide setting now, so Im selling mine.

I haven't used one, as both my horses are too wide for them, but even though the front is adjustable, the back of the gullet isn't, so watch out for it pressing on either side of the spine if you've got a wider horse.

I love my wintec saddle. A proper saddler can not only adjust the gullet but can also change the balance front to back with the aid of inserts. Mine also has the cair system which is great because it cannot be uneven. I.e., if a flocked saddle is badly restuffed you could have more in one side than the other but as the air bags are connected on the cair system it is always the same. My saddle fitter absouloutly swears by them, says they are so much more technologically advanced that traditional saddles. Also dead easly to clean. Just wipe over and looks like new!

i dont have one but tried them on my horse- none of them fitted, and i didnt really like them either. the cheepest dressage, the 500, i feel doesnt offer anymore than a GP saddle does, no support, and the pannels are very thin and i didnt feel they effectively distributed the weight.
the isabell is the nicest, but for that price u could get a leather one, all be it 2nd hand.
thats just my opinion though, and i know lots of people like them

Hmmm. I wanted it for a cob - he has an extra wide saddle - but actually wanted it to help my seat too.... not sure that a 500 model will be enough.

I bought a second hand wintec dressage saddle about 18 months ago. It hasn't got cair in it but has been fantastic. It is now for sale (very reasonably priced, will post!!!!) as I have recently bought my boy a leather saddle.

It may not be, Beau is a warmblood but it isnt wide enough for him anymore, but he has filled out a LOT since i got him, and he is 17.3hh so is 'bigger' anyway LOL.

I have a wintec saddle and I love it. I'm not keen on the Isabella version as I find it doesn't give you as much freedom in your seat and hips when you want to do more advanced movements & collection.

My horse changes weight so easily in summer/winter that I have been told by my saddler and back lady it would be a waste of money getting a leather saddle as it would sit there for half a year unable to be used.

When my instructor (who loves her leather saddles) rode it - she said she didn't like it to start but after about 5 minutes riding she said it was pretty comfortable.

My saddler doesn't like the Cair system though as he has heard that the airbags can change shape when the temperature gets v.hot in the summer or v.cold in the winter but that's just personal preference
