Wintec Dressage Saddles

I have an Ideal Jessica but it keeps needing re-flocking as too big for my horse. TBH I think the saddler that fitted it originally sold me an inappropriate saddle for my horse's shape.
Anyway, I have a limited budget so I am considering buying a dressage Wintec. I especially like the idea of panels that can be interchanged based on horses' shape. Only problem with this type of saddle is I guess you have to fit it yourself as bought off the peg???
Does anyone have any experiences of Wintec saddles?

Contrary to popular belief they dont fit all horses!!! However, the Isabell is the better of the WIntecs if they do fit, the 500 IMHO flt like too much saddle and did nothing for my position! However, everyone is different. Some saddlers will fit them for you

I know lots of people who have the wintec isabell and get on very well with them, ive ridden in them and liked them very much.

Ive also had a wintec 500 GP in the past. Like every saddle they have to be fitted properly and like anything you buy for a cheaper price you have to make compromises with the quality/design etc but I think they are fine. Perhaps not if you plan on doing advanced dressage or flying round BE XC courses but as a good second discipline saddle they are great. They are lightweight as well which I think the horses prefer.

yep as long as a saddle fitter is happy with it on your horse they are a great cheaper altenrnative. And big thumbs up for the isabelle.

I would recommend a Thorowgood over a Wintec; we looked at both, and were strongly advised to go for the Thorowgood. I've been chuffed to bits with mine - and my horse is notoriously hard to fit (apparently it's her Arab shoulders

). Even though you do buy them off the peg, if you get it from a reputable saddler they should still be able to ensure that it fits correctly; our saddler watched me ride in it to make sure it wasnt moving, and advised me on how to alter it according to how Ellie's shape and condition changes throughout the year.

i have the wintec dressage for my gelding and the wintec wide for my mare, both are excellent saddles and would recommend them, both nice fit and comfortable

Hi
I bought a Wintec 500 of ebay and my saddler fitted it for me after. Its perfect for my baby. Personally I will be forking out for a leather one when he's filled out a bit more, i'm not a synthetic fan, but having said that, mine is super, comfy fits nicely (on the Arab shoulders - he's Anglo) and can't knock it. It was only £100 too - keep an eye on ebay, there are usually a few, you just might need to change the gullet (~£15-20).

Hi, I have just bought a thorowgood cob gp from my saddle fitter and she fitted it to my new horse for me. They are now more adjustable than the wintec and my saddler prefers them, she says that they are easier to get a good fit and are really well made, and they are made in England too. It is really comfy for me and my boy, and I am really pleased with it, I have had a thorowgood dressage saddle before and that was fine too.

Ive got the Wintec 500 for one of mine and like it, I mean it only cost me £100 second hand (but basically brand new) so you cant expect something amazing but it certainly does the job for me. My horse loves it and actually goes better in it than his £750 GP! I bought it and fitted it myself. The cair makes it really lightweight.

I have a wintec 2000 gp, but was sold a 17" and its too small for me..... but fairly comfy.... I would love to swap it for a 17.5" one

But also had the 500 dressage and hated it..... and sold it on ebay

I bought a Wintec Isobell Werth for the Shire as it was the only saddle which would fit him, he is still growing. It has saved lots of lives up to now, your bum doesnt move

Im really happy with it and so are all the people who are not now dead

Well I am very concerned about falling off since my back break, so anything that helps is worth a try!!
