Wintec gullets

Does anyone know what, if any, the difference is between a Wintec gullet that's flat and one thats got a raised groove? I'm just changing the gullet in a saddle I've bought and the one I've taken out has a groove along it but I've only ever had flat ones before. The gullet I'm putting in has come out of the same type of saddle as I'm putting it in so I can't see it can be a problem but I'm just curious.

My saddle fitter changed a gullet for me last week, and used the new type with the groove. Apparently they are stronger than the old flat ones!
