I am eying one of these, one with CAIR, to buy.

But wondered what other options are out there.

I want a light weight synthetic hornless stock saddle, with poleys and a high cantle - to provide an extra secure seat. I don't particularly want to fiddle around with cinches, prefering English girths which can be done up from the saddle.

Any opinions or ideas from anyone?

You can buy a girth converter for the type of saddle that uses a cinch and then use an english girth. Look them up on ebay, usually under western saddles.

Oh thank you! That is really interesting to know, and could be useful.

The saddle I've been considering, the Wintec Pro Stock Saddle: (Picture) looks to need an English dressage type girth, as the double girth straps are hanging way low of the flaps. Having never used a proper dressage saddle I'm unsure whether this type of girth can be tightened from the saddle.

If not, what does a rider on their own do when saddling up a horse which inhales deeply until you get in saddle!?

I've always wondered that

You hope that someone is around to tighten the girth for you I suppose. It does look as if it takes a dressage girth.

OMG.... do up a dressage girth from the saddle!

Blimey, think I'd have to be a good 20 years younger to be able to beld that low
