Hi, haven't posted on here in ages but after a bit of advice. My horse came with an eventing saddle, nice quality leather, although it is old its in very good condition. I had the saddler out soon after getting him (had him 18 months now) to check it and he said it was a good fit, although he did re-flock it. I have had no problems with it, but I would like a general purpose saddle really as although I do a bit of show jumping with him I won't be eventing him, he'll be doing more dressage when I finally get some transport soon!
I've just seen that Wintec have a few special offers on at the moment with some designs that they are discontinuing. I don't have a lot of money to spend and some of my friends have them and are pleased with them, but I am looking for a few more opinions really. After looking on the webiste I've seen that my own saddler supplies them so he could fit it for me. I like the look of the VSD one the most as its a bit straighter-cut, but I've never even ridden in one so am a bit unsure really! My horse is a 9y/o 16hh middleweight ISH with high-ish withers, his saddle is 17 1/2 ins.
Any advice appreciated, Natassia x

Like all saddles, they suit some horses and not others. I have a 17.5 Wintec 2000 (GP) and an 18" VSD. I like them both, but then luckily they fit both MoM (14.2hh with withers like a shark fin) and FB (15.1hh with a normal wither line).

To ride in, changing from the GP to the VSD is always fun!! The GP 'hugs' me more and I really notice the change of position in the VSD - it makes me more 'sit up straight and ride nicely' in order to feel balanced.

For me, the main advantage is the cleaning with soapy water and a hosepipe

I have the VSD with cair. This is the third horse (all TB or TB crosses mind) I've used it on, and have been really pleased with it. Even though I hated the GP 500 with a vengeance!
The main advantage to me - other than the horses seeming happy, and it coping with them developing, has been that it seems indestructable - my tack lives in the car, hot or cold, wet or dry, and cleaning consists of the hose or the hot tap and fairy liquid!
I am now thinking of getting a jumping saddle "for best", and debating the wintec CC or an elderly leather one!

i also have a 17.5" vsd with cair and it is lovely fits my mare really well, no complaints owned it for a year and it still looks like new,

Both my TB's had one each, and I also had a dressage. Don't get on with the GP for jumping though as I seem to have problems when I hoick my stirrups up, so I have just got a 2nd hand close contact in the hope that this improves things. Oh dear I have just realised one horse (now) and far too many saddles!!

I love Wintecs too but unfortunately, I can't get one for Hattie as the shape of the panels is too curved for her back and they scoot forward like a slide on her even though she has decent withers like most TB's have. If your horse has a straight topline, they don't fit even if you change the gullet.
Too bad too, as they are the only saddle I can afford!

I have an Isabella Werth Wintec dressage saddle for my chunky Irish cob and it fits her perfectly. I find it really comfortable, it gives you a really deep seat and its great to hack in as well. And I also love the fact that I can just run it under a tap!
