It may sound a little silly but here goes... I own a wintec GP saddle currently with no gullet in it, but after getting another horse, it needs to be a little wider(he's a wide, flat backed cob)- I do own the extra wide white gullet, would the gullet make it any wider considering it hasn't got one in already?

These saddles are NOT designed to be used with no gullet.

Get horses back checked
Get saddle checked in general
Get a gullet in and see IF it will fit with a proper saddler.

You will prob find it a gullet will give it support and make it wider but that said Wintecs do still need a saddle fitter unless youre really good at knowing what youre doing... and if he is a wide flat backed cob a WINTEC WIDE saddle would probably suit better than standard wintec GP.

They are designed for cobs with flat backs :-)

Thankyou for the advice- as mentioned I will be getting a saddler out to get advice as I was aware the fit wasn't right. I will consider that, thankyou☺️

Ditto Ditto and Ditto. It should never be used without gullet bar, by inserting one now you will only make it narrower, and it definately still needs to be professionally fitted..My best advice, get something different and properly fitted, (although they must fit some horses properly!)
