Wintec Saddle

It it was it is. I have one and would want to always have one in, it's great for chaging shape horses and is a nice little saddle for various things.

What it is NOT is a professional saddle that will be suitable for progressing through various levels of whatever discipline you go into....I can happily jump in mine, but wouldn't want to regularly jump big tracks in it, not got the knee rolls or support for me, and is not really suitable for the horse either as they are only adjustable to a point.

Same with the dressage one, I intend to get one for my youngster once my knee heals and I'm back on board, but it will be an interim until he fills out and it's worthwhile buying a decent leather saddle.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure lots of people have gone far in a Wintec, but in my opinion, if you get into serious and regular competition, you need to tools for the job, and a Wintec isn't the 'best' you could get for the job.

very much agree with the above, i have just brought a wintec pro close contact for my ever changing shape TB!! for now as he is learning to jump this will def get him through his training and some low level competing, but if (and thats a big IF!) he goes affiliated i think i would buy a saddler fitted close contact.
lovely saddles and great for horses that change shape a lot, and my close contact is very comfy!! :-)

Agree with both the above; my 3 each have a Wintec 2000 GP interchangeable gullet saddle, and go fine in them, but only used for leisure/hacking/occasional schooling/small jumps. As said above - fine to a point (esp as not to expensive and easy to look after), need something more when things get serious.

I love mine. GP 500 in black... (Oh the many, many bells of shame!) Being on a tight budget, it was the best I could do. At the moment I'm only a happy hacker / basic schooling / small jumps so it meets my needs. Although I know there are many who don't like them as they tend not to fit cob types too well. It fits my ISH well.

I have one and find it be comfy. It's he most comfy saddle I've sat in so far. I can't fault mine. I read a lot of stories about everyone bashing them, it did put doubts into my head but I have to say it did surprise me. The gullets are good. I recently sold one of my horses who the saddle fit like a glove and, once you hqve he othe gullets, it's fit anything we have. That's not to say it'll fit absolutely anything though.

As for jumping, I haven't jumped in it as I'e just gotten back into the saddle and on track to learning still but I've had no problems in walk, trot and canter.I'll say one thing though. I have one that's fake leather, there is no suede on it, OH's has suede. The one like mine, seems to allow for slipping, you don't have he same grip as you would on a leather saddle but as I said, I'm learning sill and my balance can still be a bit off so maybe it's just me. As well, I prefer a close contact saddle, which is what m one is.

I think everyone draws something different from their experience with these saddles and it reflects everyone taste. I'd say try it out and see what YOU think. Our advice can only go so far :)

I didnt get on with mine..it's not a great fit for Blue..tryed all gullets, medium/wide/xwide! he just wasnt happy with it and came back once with a small lump on his spine which was only there for a day!! but I sold mine!
