Have just had a chat with my saddler about fitting a saddle for Elsa. As she is only 5 and still growing and very weak all over he has suggested starting off with an adjustable synthetic saddle.
He is very pro the wintec isabell's (I have had one of these and loved it!!) but also suggested the Throwgood T6 dressage (advised only new as they have been improved lots!!!) which I have never ridden in.
After doing a quick net search I can get a new wintec isabell for around £550 but struggled to find a 2nd hand one ( the less I spend now the more i'll have for a new one once she is fully growna nd developed!!! )
The Thorowgood T6 Dressage I can buy online for around £420 but obviously as advised can not get a 2nd hand one.
So thoughts on these 2 saddles very much appreciated and if any one has 2nd hand ones kicking around I would very much appreciate a PM

Well i have only ever had wintecs, one for my cob that i had for 3.5 years and it was really comfy and fitted her like a glove, I have a new horse now who is a baby, so i have just invested in another wintec, because a- he is still growing b- they are very lightweight and c- i love them. So sorry not really answering your questions as i have never used the thorowgoods, but thats my opinion.
Good luck

Have had both but not as dressage! I much prefer wintecs but that it just my opinion! i have just bought a new wintec (gp) and love it! friend had just bought new thorowgood (gp) not over keen on it, me or her!

I have a Thorowgood T6 Dressage and love it, find it much nicer than any of the wintecs I have ridden in. What width are you looking at, mines an old style one so only has the FISH system not the adjustable gullet, but if its suitable could let your try it on Elsa, but have a feeling it will be too wide.

What is the differnce between the Wintec Pro dressage and the Isabelle dressage? only reason I ask is there is a Wintec Pro Dressage on ebay now (buy it now) for only £300 and odd plus there is the buy it now Isabelle too for £375.00.

Thanks for the offer Jess, think Elsa is probably a medium gullet. My saddler told me not to go for the old style ones as they improved so much with the new design. Have a few Wintec Isabell's that I have my eye on at the moment as would love another one ( can't believe I sold Alee's!!! ) but I'll keep your offer in mind if I decide to go with a Thorowgood

Yeah thought it would be too big! I got mine second hand though and it is lovelyyy

You can come ride pickle in it and see what you think? Though he won't be back in proper work for a few weeks yet!

Not sure really but my saddler advised me to stear clear of the Pro!! The isabell on ebay must not be the right size for me as I am sure I owuld have clocked it!!!

I wouldnt use a wintec if i was given one but would happily pay full price for a thorowgood.

Thorowgoods have a much better tree shape and panel design.

Used to have a Wintec GP but it really didn't suit my round bellied arab x. So...bought a T6 GP and really liked it. Have just spent about £650 on a new LEATHER T6 dressage saddle (they've just started doing them in leather) and love it. So much more secure and I really notice the difference in "feel" I get with the leather. I think it just "gives" a bit more with his movement. Never tried an isabella though so can't comment -my highly competative YO really rates it though.

Got to agree and the Thorowgoods are so much better. I've an 18 1/2 inch Thorowgood that I'm selling at the minute, great saddle hardly been used
