I need to change my saddle and like the look and idea of a wintec VSD as ponio changes shape quite a lot. I am mainly a happy hacker and do a bit of schooling although this year I would like to do some local shows. So is a Wintec VSD acceptable for showing? I have a leather saddle at the mo which I may also keep as if its not worth that much I may as well keep it so could use that (its working hunter) but what are your thoughts?

Personally I would never use a synthetic for showing as judges like traditional kit but it depends what level you are showing at. If you are doing local level for fun you will get away with it but if you want to work up to county level then you need leather. If you can afford to hang on to the leather WH saddle as well as get the VSD for every day stuff this would be the best solution

That should be fine but if you're planning on using it, keep riding in it every few weeks and have it checked reguarly so it's not a shock to the system once you get to a show (and it still fits)

Having shown Ralph in a wintec many years ago, when he was only 4 and changing shape. I got some very strange looks inside and outside the ring......so it is frowned apon I'm afraid, shame really, because its the horses way of going that should be looked at not the gucci kit its wearing.....thats showing for you.

I now have an Albian VSD, worth every penny and can use it for everything

I've shown local level in mine and one judge admitted that they'd missed that it was a synthetic when I commented- but it is a brown one, which do look better IMO. Far better than a badly fitting, tatty or dangerous leather one at any rate!
