Hi

When i purchsed a wintec wide for one of our horses, i was told the spare girth straps can be removed but having sat for 20 mins tugging and pushing at them, i just can't work out how! Don't suppose anyone knows a way to do this in an easy stress free way do they, or did they lie?

Thanks
Jeni

Which straps do you use? On my w-i-d-e neds I use the 1st and 4th strap and the remaining 2 just lie there as the single strap on a "normal" saddle with 3 straps would. They don't interfere with anything at all. I suppose if you're desperate you could just cut the ones you don't use off, but that seems a pretty terminal solution! When I bought my Wintec Wide, I wasn't told anything about removing surplus straps. Can't you just leave them there?

My wintec wide saddle's girth straps are held on with webbing loops. It looks like they can be easily removed by passing the strap bit through the loop of the webbing.

I didnt know they could be removed.

Hi, we are currently using 1 and 4 so was told i could remove the middle ones to keep as spares and it would cut down on the bulk under the saddle flap. It's not a major issue, just thought it might make it a bit more comfortable and easier to do girth up as it gets a bit muddled at the moment especially as the girth guards are on in pairs so was thinking if just had the 2 straps they could share one guard.

See this is what i have been attempting to do but there is no space to move the strap through, it just gets stuck. Maybe they aren't suppose to come off and the shop lied, or got confused with the thorowgood cob as their straps can be removed.

You must always have one spare girth strap on each side of a saddle for safety reasons.
