Has anyone got one, what do you think of them? Just being nosey as have ordered one for my girl. I thought it was the best one as she is only turning 4 and will be changing shape when she starts back in work.

We have several, originally bought one for the haffy that fluctuates weight wise and loved it so much that we bought a couple more second hand for starting the youngsters. The gullets are quick and easy to change and the saddles are comfy to ride in and always look like new. We also bought the stirrup 'leathers' as they don't stretch like leather does. I have seen posts on here where people have had the girth straps replaced with leather, we haven't but I can see why others do.

I ADORE my wintec 500 GP. So comfy and Indy doesn't seem to have any issues. :) I have the matching 'leathers' and girth, they are good quality.

I got warned that long term having real leather rubbing off the synthetic stuff makes them wear faster. Not sure if it's true but it came from YO who has been riding since before I was born and has had both leather and synthetics.

I absolutely love mine! It scrubs up like new and is perfect for the student budget as gullet alterations cost as much as a new gullet. My synthetic leather on the girth straps began to crack quite badly so had replaced with leather straps on both sides for less than £20, bargin! :)

they're the only thing i can get to fit my boy. I have a isabella dressage saddle, and now getting a 2000 gp saddle. i did have a close contact with the plastic straps, but i could only ever undo them when i was still on the horse, so i have to find a 2000 with leather girth straps too!

gullets are really easy to change, but i would say don't put locktite on the screws as suggested on the wintec site - it makes changing the screws absolute hell! on my first second hand saddle the last person who changed it did; when i came to change the screws they were so glued in that the backs of the screws just turned with the screw head, damaged the saddle (because the screw backs have teeth in them to stop them moving) and one expensive bill later i'd learnt my lesson! My dad put extra washers under the screws and marked them with a pen to see if the screws moved or loosened without the loctite, and 12 months later the lines were still perfectly line up so i've never bothered putting loctite on the screws.

I've had both the cair and flocked versions, and have to say i love the cair ones as they're so light.

I have a wintec gp saddle with cair.

Fits my girl very well as was perfect as she grew and muscled up and went from a medium to medium wide. The gullet was about £2 off ebay so much cheaper than a new saddle!

I show jumping and xc in my wintec fine and would not worry about hunting in it either.

I also have a wintec dressage saddle without cair which I like aswell :)

Sorry to be negative, but i got one fitted by a prof. saddle fitter to my irish cob mare and it lasted about 3 and a half weeks and she had to have over 2 months off because it had hurt her back. Wouldn't reccomend them at all, but she now has a thorowgood and that is amazing!

I have the winte 500 with cair and hate it with a passion :D most awful saddle ever!! And combined with an unbalanced 4yr is not good lol I rode my 4yr in mine the other day and jezzz it was not good!! But thankfully my friend lets me use her jumping saddle, until i get a new one, which im not to keen on as she still has to fill out but heyho needs must i suppose

I back all of the youngsters in a Wintec 500 GP with Cair except for one how had no wither and was backed in a Wintec Wide with Cair.

I really like them but have heard plenty of comments from people with cobs that they don't fit them.

My advanced dressage horse is in a Wintec Isabel with Cair.

Love the Isabell dressage but the 2000 is not good. It tends to perch you up on the top instead of really sitting you down into the saddle, the contact and feel is not good. Shame as I loved how easy it was to clean.

Hated the winged gp I had for my 4 year old - it sort of seemed to sit above the horse, find a leather saddle more secure for an unbalanced 4 youngster.

However, bought a 2nd hand bates caprilli saddle on eBay which has been fantastic and has changeable gullets. Now the horse is nearly 7 I plan to get a 'forever' leather saddle and hopefully sell the bates for not much less than I paid for it.

Terribly poor fit around the shoulders IMO. I had one on my 3yo welsh D as was reccomended, terrible fit. That was a 500.

( I have a kieffer munchen now ;) anything is rubbish compared to that, in my eyes)

We have 3, Wintec 500 Pro with cair for Captain, whose shape changes regularly, a Wintec Extra Wide with cair for Fany and and a Wintec Isabel with cair for dressage.

I would not swap any of them, they are comfortable for horse and rider, they adjust as the horse does and they are easy to maintain.

TBH I would love a made to measure saddle each for my two, but what happens when Cappy changes shape or Fany's diet works?
I will stick with the Wintec Cairs.

Thats exactly what I mean, they are perched, but I didnt realise it until my YO commented and lent me hers, I thought it was ok.

I have a 2000 with cair for my 4yr old youngster. I originally wanted leather and hated synthetics until I bought a second hand leather one. Avidly hated it. Got the saddler back and bought a wintec as it was sooo comfortable. A quick spray and wipe and it looks good. Said horse accidently knocked saddle off the stable door tonight and it landed top up on the yard floor... sigh I thought that's the cantle buggered... but no it's all still in one piece, no marks, immaculate!

Forgot to add:

Because you can adjust the width of the gullet some people make the assumption they WILL fit EVERY horse. It's not like that, some they will fit, others they will not.

I find they do not fit cobby types well but fit tb types well.
(My lass is a standardbred and it fits perfectly)
