Winter coat for yard and walking

I probably should have posted this last week as the temperature has now dropped! I’m always in search of a winter coat but I’ve never yet found “the one”.

It must be longline, not bulky as I walk on foot with daughter riding, fully waterproof and warm for cold winter days (when I’m a spectating).

I’ve got a range of coats so at the moment I’m sporting two - short style puffer underneath my Dubarry (which I had in the sale last year but it’s thin so not warm enough in the arms and body).

I’ve looked at many but I can’t find one that ticks all three boxes so hoping someone has the answer.
 
I’ve got a long Musto riding coat…for almost 20 years and it’s never let me down waterproof wise and I put layers under it to keep warm. This year I’ve bought a Reincoat and I’ve yet to fully test it but others on here have written good reports about them.
 
The lite version of the Equidry long coat might also do the job. It has the thinner fleece so shouldn't be too bulky, or you could go for the mesh-lined mac version. If you get a 'tall' sized one, it will cover the tops of your boots. Or there's the Reincoat equivalent to the the mesh-lined one if that would be the right weight for you. However, they're both oversized, so you may class that as being too bulky. I'm sure Equidry do a long, more-fitted style too, but I can't remember what that's called or how long it is.
 
i don’t shut up about equidry, i’ve got 3 now so that would be my vote! however my mum doesn’t like how oversized they are, she loves her weatherbeeta kyla - waterproof, long, but still able to move around etc.
 
Equidry Brontë, it’s not too warm and ideal for warmer months too… I don’t ride but it’s my staple coat! I’d not recommend the black however it shows up everything!

They are fantastic. I have the Nordic coat and it's warm in frozen weather yet breathable. It's only shower proof though so would choose another model if you're needing waterproof too.

I also have this too, it's a really good coat for riding. In comparison to my UHIP, it's warm but not that warm for Winter. I'd probably say this is like a lightweight turnout rug compared to the UHIP which is like a heavyweight stable rug!
 
My problem is I get very hot, I can work outside in a polo shirt, although I did put a fleece on today. ATM I have 25yr old Puffa brand 3/4 drover coat, that is now wearing away, with just a thin nylon lining, it's a over sized man's so I can two layers underneath and still have room. It has large pockets so I can can carry lots of stuff.
I do not do zips, because if its raining and warm I may just fasten one popper, so the wind can blow through.
I know am wishing for a unicorn replacement but if anyone sees one please post a like. I must look like a bag lady in it.
 
I love my Equidry Bronte for the yard, riding and walking the dogs. It's a lovely flattering shape, nicely padded but not heavy, not too hot, plenty of room to add layers under and perfect in the heaviest rain. The Bronte is my favourite coat from Equidry, I do not like their big oversized ugly coats.

It kept me bone dry in the wet last week, dried well, can be ridden in and is warm but not too bulky. I'm super impressed with it :)

I have this one - it has changed from the previous design to include magnets instead of velcro, which is a shame as they don't hold the coat closed without the zip being done up. I also think the pockets would be better with storm flaps as rain gets in.

It is nice and warm though. Not as warm as my Reincoat, which is for mornings this week, looking at the forecast.

I have a year old UHIP - it’s supposed to be waterproof with reflective panels - the reflective material started to break down after only a few weeks. Their customer service team were great and sent me out a new (non-reflective) coat and I kept the old one for dog walks/yard work. I went out for a walk in last week’s torrential rain and after half an hour every seam was leaking - by the time I got home I had to get completely changed. It’s very disappointing as it’s a lovely design, warm but not too warm and very flattering .. but its waterproof qualities are now non-existent and it’s only a year old …
 

I've got this one for doing mantrailing and scent detection and I love it. Its warm and waterproof but isnt cumbersome and heavy and theres plenty of room to move about. It is coveted amongst my mantrailing group.

Agreed it’s a fab coat and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!
 
Thank you for all your suggestions. I’ve circled around Equidry and Reincoat for a few years. I have a dry robe so I don’t think I’d get any additional benefits from these, and the lites don’t appear warm enough.

I’d bought a few of the suggestions on here so will update once they arrive and I can’t try them on.
 
I actually really disliked my Equidry, I found it very unflattering and just cumbersome in comparison to my Uhip and Harry Hall coat so very rarely used it. However, now that I’m back turning out and bringing in, it very rarely leaves my back! Ideal for using as an overcoat to not get wet or too mucky.
 
Riding skirt! I'm out in all weathers and carry a ton of stuff but the riding skirt, even though I don't ride, is invaluable and makes everything more versatile. Personally I like that it's snug at the waist and keeps out drafts, more so than a long coat.
 
I wear it over a pair of walking trousers which are over thermal undies, right up to the thickness of Powerstretch depending on the temperatures! I tend to use it early doors, take it off for appointments more in the middle of the day, and put it back on for later, colder appointments, so much easier to put on an take off than overtrousers etc. Honestly, can't see me using a full length coat ever again.

(And am wearing it right now as working from home we keep the heating off during the day!)
