ARGHHH I'm pulling more of my hair out than the blooming pony!!

Just got his winter coat left on his bum and can I get rid of it? Can I ******y!! I've tried shedding blade, rubber curry comb, plastic curry comb, stiff brush, furminator, giving him a bath... NOTHING WILL WORK!!!!! Lol *and breathes*

JUST COME OUT YOU SILLY HAIR IT'S JUNE NOT DECEMBER!!!!

Might sound silly but chuck a wormer down him...I always if coblets haven't shifted their coats abs always works. Sorted baby coblet out within 48 hours.

bgb - is it OK to clip at this time of year. My really old boy is struggling this year with what remains of his fluff from the winter coat. I was thinking of trying to find someone to clip hime (I've not clipped before and don't have clippers) would it not cut into his summer coat (which we can just about see under the fluff).

Perfectly fine - clipping mine as he is getting very sweaty on just a light hack. It would clip into his summer coat but if it is quite thick anyway it will make him a lot more comfortable. Have to be more careful if he is prone to sunburn and chuck a rainsheet on if it goes chilly though.

I usually find a shedding blade works perfectly fine on my two, however you said you've tried that.. Have you tried plucking it out with your fingers?
Sounds a bit cruel at first, but my girls enjoy it :p If you pull gently, you only get the loose hair.. I plucked mine, then used the shedding blade & voila! No more winter fuzziness! Good luck though, I've known many a winter coat be tougher than my two ;)

Christmas sparkles what wormer do you use??

Mines not on work obviously as he's only 2 but I'd love to show him and I can't if he looks like a scruff!! Hahah

I feel your pain - my 2 year old is booked in for his first show in 5 weeks and still looks like a hairy mammoth! bathing, furminator etc all tried to no avail :(

My 6 year old draught still has winter coat and perfect clip lines it's doing my head and really wish I had fully clipped in Feb!! Next winter it's all coming off haha

I used to clip out our Conn/Tb eventer all through the summer. He was grey and his summer coat was still quite fluffy. He was so easy to keep clean and looked really smart so it was real time saver.

Think I might see if I can find someone to carefully clip for me. Any ideas on how much I could expect to pay?

There probably is a touch of cushings, but even in his younger days he used to hang on to his winter fluff a bit longer, guess he's just that type of horse.

My 23 year old welshie has been tested for Cushings and nothing showed up, but for the last few summers he's just not lost enough coat to work him without him getting in a muck sweat so I came on here last year and whispered "is it ok to, ahem, clip in Summer" and I got a resounding yes. So go for it, I already have this year and its a godsend for us both.

Can't understand what people are finding unusual here.

Here it's far south, there's a micro climate that covers the whole of the NF (thank you Isle of Wight) and bits of winter coats always hang on until June.

Bathed mine today, summer coat isn't fully through yet. Knew when she first started losing winter coat it would be June before it was all fully gone.

But then, they don't get their full winter coat until late November/early December. People start rugging far too early them wonder why they never get a good winter coat.

Feel your pain OP. My yearling is seriously fluffy at the moment, I had hoped to get her out to a few shows, but she just looks ridiculous.

Going to give her one mammoth grooming session at the weekend to try and help her out a bit.

Just feels like its taking forever, by the time its all out, she will be growing her winter coat again !

Yes well hopefully when winter comes ill be rugging like mad so he doesn't grow his winter coat if its going to be like this again!!! Lol
