Winter Coat

Hello!!!!!!!!!! I was just wondering when does a horse start to lose his winter coat and is it a good idea to clip him while he is????

Can be very dependent on the horse and its individual response to weather/light conditions... my mare is already thinking about starting to let go of her winter coat, last year she also started to moult in January and her summer coat was through by March; I've had geldings who don't drop a hair until late March at the earliest and are still hanging onto belly hair in May...

I was always taught , You dont clip after the last day in Jan . so I stick to this.
