Hi again,

Worried 16 people have read my earlier post and not commented.

New question - Do any readers own or know any horses/ponies that still have remanents of winter coat on their backs.

Thanks

Hi there!

A pony I know has only just lost his winter coat. He had a blanket clip and the unclipped blanket bit has just come out this week

However he is 16 and I think I read somewhere that older ponies tend to lose their coats later? That could just be me making up stuff though

i really would not worry to much-if you were suspecting cushings disease you would be seeing a curly coat-my cob cross who is now 21 and i have had for ten years has NEVER had his full summer coat til end of june/july-this year he had a chaser clip and you can still see it now so normal for him

Thanks also.

My horse seems like yours - had chaser clip and you can still see it now. It might be normal for him too.

Horse looks so well - I really think it was because of the insurance companies comments' that have made me worry.

Thanks too.

My 2 yr old only just lost the last of his winter woollies last week. My old mare of 23 has been rid of hers for ages.

cushings ponies/horses dont loose the coat at all, its long thick, curly and stuck fast! Honestly dont worry, my old boy is still loosing coat, I'm estimating another week til hes lost the lot.

My ponio still has his winter coat at present, he is about 20 now and doesn't loose it as easy anymore. Normally have to clip it off cos he just gets too hot. I wouldn't worry about your ponio having cushings, unless his hair starts going curly! Don't panic!

I have to say I was getting a bit paranoid about this as well!

Mine still has bits of winter coat - mainly little wisps on his back and shoulders.

Went to a show on sunday and the vast majority of horses were like this (i was looking especially)
