Winter dilemma advise please x

I am starting to feel down as winter is heading closer as I'm panicking after having the most stressful winter I've ever has since owning my mare for 10 years!
Basically I moved my mare to a new yard last October and I'm sharing a field with 1 other livery! There are 2 other liveries besides us and the YO horses.Everyone refused to bring there horses in last winter despite the bad weather snow etc! Hats off to people who are able to leave their horse but it does not suit my mare she does not Like the cold/wet weather, she has an old tendon injury so I do not like her out in all the mud and wet:(. I'm unable to bring her in alone as she will be in a barn all by her self and she will stress! 1 other livery is in and the stable next to her on the other main yard is vacant but used for storage! Last year I asked if I may move into it but the YO refused saying she did not want liveries mixing! It's hit home this weekend now my mare has a foot abcess and the other livery still refuses to bing in and I'm struggling to manage the abcess in this weather! What would u do? Thanks for reading xx:)
 
I'm sorry but I think you need to move yards, it is a bit unfair to expect other liveries to bring their horses in just to suit your horse when they are happy outside, so moving to a yard where there are more horses in would be the best thing for your horse I think.

If YO wont let you move next to the horse that stays in i cant see any other option tbh. Im afraid like the other liveries there i wouldnt be bringing my horse in to accomodate other people either, id be doing what suited my horse.

It sounds to me like you need to find a yard where more people are going to have their horses in, which would suit your situation better :(

You need to speak calmly to YO and say you can't take another winter, and that you will have to move unless she can see a way of letting you have the stable currently used for storage. You could offer to move the stuff, see if that helps! But do have a look around first to make sure you can find another yard, just in case she says no and goodbye!
 
I did at first think about suggesting moving, but have you tried stable mirrors? I've heard they really do wonders for anxious horses, but I haven't tried them myself tbh. Worth a go? Good luck.
 
Thanks for replies, totally agree it suits some horses and owners to stay out for health, financial, other commitments etc, etc! Will have to find a compromise that keeps everyone happy :) will be sad to move as is a lovely yard and only moved a year ago and don't want to unsettle my mare again! I'll look into stable mirrors- good idea!:cool:
