Hello,

Does anybody have recommendations for VERY warm winter riding gloves? I can't seem to find any that are super warm but also effective for riding. Also any other warm hacks are welcome!

🥰

I have ridden in these fine as pretty grippy.

I prefer thinner gloves but these are great for an all round waterproof thermal glove. Just make sure you go up a size if you purchase.

They look fab, thanks so much

I have both the Ejendals Tegera and Sealskinz winter riding gloves, and though both are great, the Sealskinz are much better at keeping your hands warm as well as dry, confirmed during this past week.

The Tegera are much much cheaper though, so I tend to use those as daily yard gloves and only use the sealskinz for riding. The sealskinz are good for hacking but I’d say not so good for school work.

Shires: SSG 10 Below gloves, thinsulate 40 gram gloves. Had these ages, v.warm but always thought a bit bulky (riding with a full set of reins, schooling whip, plus leading another). Currently hacking one horse in a snaffle, and they’re great.
Xmas gift: Catago brand Teddy Fleece Panola (or Paloma?) riding tights - fab, invaluable this past week, discovered discount equestrian had them in a sale and bought another two pairs....

Sorry, online for equine, (been buying far too much lately, obvs)

I have the old style high viz amner ones which I do school in and us for everyday in winter and the Kelling I think for extreme weather as my hands get too hot in them and they a are more stiff.

Harry Hall gloves... warm and waterproof! I was putting my hand into the 7 water buckets picking out the broken ice - it felt so wrong but they were completely waterproof and that hand didn't get any colder than the other! It was still very much toasty! And they're at least two years old now!

I got a pair of riding mittens from Horze and my hands end up being too warm with them. They have a separate pieces for your thumb and little finger but all your other fingers are together which keeps them warmer than gloves.

It doesn't get REALLY cold here (I'm originally from much further north) so a pair of gloves works fine for me, but other half struggles with his old broken hands. He wears silk glove liners under his work gloves now (xmas present) he says they work well but you need to go up a size in your normal gloves to accommodate them.

When we were kids in the cold depths of the peak district we would where wool gloves with marigolds over the top to keep our fingers warm.

My step son did motocross as a child. We put white pepper in latex gloves under his bike gloves to keep his hands warm. The pepper really helps and the latex keeps the wind off your skin.

FYI - my dad always put white pepper in cuts (human and horses) to aid healing and avoid scaring.
