Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on what to feed by boys over the winter. They all live out 24/7. Charlie my Friesian will only be in light work, a happy hacker a couple of times a week, the other 4 (2 mini shetlands & 2 Welsh A's) are all companions. They are all good doers. I will be supplementing their grazing with hay also.

Thanks.

If they are all good doers and hold their weight well with supplementary hay Id be inclined to feed them all a lo calorie balancer and leave them at that.

I used to feed my fatty who was out 24/7 naked a small feed of warm fast fibre with a multi vitamin supplement, but I think that was more for me than for him!

They should be fine with the extra forage that you are giving them, you can always increase the amount if you need to. But bear in mind that they are evolved to drop some weight in winter, so that they can cope with the extra grass in summer.
