Its coming up to winter and I need to find a feed for my cob, in the winter he needs hyping up a bit so i want a mix that will help. The first year i had him he was way under weight so he had a cheap pony mix, chaff and sugar beet which worked nicely. Then last year he got a bit too fat so he was on a good doer chaff and slim and healthy mix but he didnt have much umf in him. This year he at a healthy weight and I was thinking of putting him back on the good doer chaff but putting him on a different more molassed mix.

He is currently on Healthy hooves and does tend to loose weight in the winter, he also gets ridden daily for at least and hour.

Does anyone know of any good brands and types of mix that would be good for my boy?

Ringthe feed companies and ask for their recomendations. they will go through everything to make sure you get the right diet

hi, an ideal feed for your cob would be one based around fibre. i would suggest using alfa a lite, speedi beet, and a broad spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement like pink powder by NAF. adding something that has extra molasses is really not a good thing as its just giving a sugar rush. cereals do the same thing. the above diet would give a constance stream of slow release energy, meaning that he will have energy for a longer period, without making him fat. also if he is not recieving all his vitamins and minerals then his muscles wont be able to use the bodies energy efficiently. hope this is of some help to you.
