I want to get my winter feeding of neddies right. They will have ad lib hay and live out all year round. All TB/ polo type ponies. Plan to feed Linseed, and speedi beet and salt. Some are better doers than others. In past have also fed Alfa a oil. This I have read can cause itchyness etc so would like to replace with something else. Any suggestions .

What is Alfa A oil? Just Alfalfa and oil. Rapeseed oil.

IN the meantime there are new studies about Alfalfa. Thanks god. Very bad calcium - phosphorous ratio, in many parts too much protein and an inhibitor for the uptake of zinc.

Well nobody would buy a bag of hay for 15 pound or more, so it was time to invent something new for to get rich. Now we are not selling Hay in a Bag we sell the wonder plant alfalfa, as cheap to produce as hay but a real cash cow.

Just feed hay ad lib, if you need more energy some beetpulp and stir a good mug of rapeseed oil (buy in tesco) in.

It comes very close to the nature of the horse, just fibre and a bit of fat.
