I am getting prepared for winter at the moment a lot earlier than last year 😊 what are people feeding their 2/ riseing 3 year olds? Ted is obviously not in any work until he hits 3 next spring and he a pretty good doer. Last year he was on the Spillers Cool Fibre stuff with youngstock cubes which he did really well on and have already bought a bag ready but I'm debating if I should add something more to it this year or just stick to the same as he did well last year. (When I got him in November he was on no hard feed as he was turned away in a huge herd)

My lot will be having a small bucket of

Fast Fibre
Micro Linseed
Pro Balance +
Mag Ox
Agrobs Muesli

Adlib hay when in at night

Forgot to mention he's out 24/7 and will have hay aswell. There is a chance he will be stabled but still weighing up the cost of it.

Ted is an Appaloosa x Cob standing at about 15'1 😊

What type of horse is he.

Good question :)

No-one can answer even vaguely without knowing that, and other things, available grazing, ad-lib hay, living in/out, is he a good doer, or a bad one, will he be rugged, etc, etc?
There is a lot to be considered before suggesting anything.

I feed by eye, ****** what it says on the bag, or what other people say.
If the horse looks OK then don't change the regime, if he is putting on weight lessen the feed, if he is losing it, feed more (and that's presuming all the usual teeth, de-worming etc, etc are in order)

Mine get hay, haylage, Timothy chop, a good protein balancer and micronised linseed. Splash of veg oil if loosing weight. They are heavy horses.

Thanks guys for conforming what I first thought I will just keep it simple and the same and see how he goes add more or less when needed😊 now I can relax and not look forward to winter as much as everyone else haha oh and rug shopping the ****** won't stop growing 😄
