Winter feeding

I have a Welshie so needless to say, he is a good doer! He has grass and hay all winter and his tea bucket is 2 handfuls of Hi Fi to put his supplement in! He does not have a morning feed as he does not need anything.

My WB is a very good doer - so he gets hay and a handful of afla-a and a handful of pasture mix (literally a handful). When he gets a bit fitter and as we start to compete I will up his feed a bit, but for now he's fine as he is!

My TB is hard to describe. She easily puts weight on if you feed her plenty, but it will soon drop off if she's not getting enough. I suppose she would be classed as poor doer. She has more hay than the WB, even though she is over a hand smaller, is on much better pasture and has 1/2 round scoop alfa-a and 1/2 round scoop of pasture nuts. She's not in work at the mo - I'm going to start hacking her this weekend so I will probably buy topline cubes next time around for her.

Both only get tea at the moment - brekkie will start in a month or so when the grass goes downhill

Will have four this winter. All get plenty of good quality haylage. The two fatties will just have a handful of High Fibre Cubes, the old pony will have some Alfa Beet, and the old horse will have Alfa Beet, oil and micronized barley.

Mine is an 'average' doer.

Last winter she was on 2 feeds a day which added up to about 1.5 scps of competition mix with some Alpha-A, joint sup, oil and salt.

She'll probably be on conditioning mix this year as I think she was a bit OTT last winter. This plus ad-lib haylage.

My horse is 'average-to-poor' doer and he gets 2 feeds a day of:
1 heaped scoop of dengie hi-fi
1/2 scoop nuts
1/2 scoop mix
1/2 scoop of sugar beet!
plus a stable full of haylage!
