Following on from another post re this coming winter..
I have recently (well, this Feb) taken over a DIY yard, and up until now, when at livery, I have always had automatic water drinkers in the field, which either didnt seem to freeze or the YM 'dealt with it'. Now it's up to me and although I have rigged together a rather effective hose system for the spring/summer/autumn, I am panicking slightly about the deep dark winter. The fields are a fair walk away - maybe about 300 m??
So my question is, how do you peeps out there with no automatic waterers cope with the field water supply? One thought was to get a giant water container and put it in the field, with a hose pipe in the centre of it (hoping that it never gets that cold that the hole lot freezes in to a big ice cube!).
Any thoughts would be great
xx
