Did anyone else have frozen water buckets this morning?

Woke up to a decent layer of frost and 6mm of ice in the buckets. It's not even November yet!

This also means our temporary water pipe in the yard is frozen, so we are filling buckets from the hot tap to flush the toilet until it melts! :o

Need to buy some lagging today I think! :D

I cant believe it, I have thermal socks on and neprene lined wellies and my feet are still freezing.

I dont dare put HW on though, otherwise what will I do when the real winter sets in ARRRGGGGGGGG

I feel like Ebaneezer Scrooge at just the mere thought of winter.
I have my seal skins ready to go, hats, gloves, and O/H is buying a set of snow chains for my car "just in case" as new yard is up a hill and I have to be able to get up there!

Yep bloody cold this morn I had 2 pairs of socks on my thermals a scarf wooly hat and gloves, and I was still wearing it all after mucking 7 out when normaly there would be a trail of jumpers and stuff strewn about behind me as I warmed up. Then again feelin wussy at mo cos got man flu lol

i had a thin layer of frost on my car first thing, that was shock enough. rode out about 9.30 in several layers. jst wish i'd put some joggers over my jodhpurs, coz my legs were frozen and bright red whn i got home. i cant even begin to think about frozen pipes and water troughs yet. nooooooooooooooooooo!

Was freezing here to this morning - although i admit i prefer winter to summer (i know strange:D)

Good thought on chains / autoscoks - really struggled last winter but horse was on full livery - shes on diy this year and yard is straight up the side of the pennines!

freezing here too :( had snow overnight but not enough to really see it yet... horses are in 100g rugs.. that will soon change i think!
re the autosocks- how on earth do you get in on,
fitting them is easy. If you can pull a sock over your foot you can push a fabric cover over a wheel.
but you lift your foot of the ground to put a sock on your foot... you can't "lift the car" without an awful lot of hassle

We had snow today. About 1/2 inch so not to much. I put a MW rug on my horse yesterday. Well timed i'd say. Its been 1 degree here today

Hmmm where are you. My car thermometer didn't scale the heady heights of 1 degree till after 11. No gritters as per usual and that hill towards Inverurie on the whiterashes road was a nightmare. This is going to be a vereeee long winter.

Sorry, meant to add that if you haven't tried them the socks from the welly boot sock company (the ones for about a fiver) are outstanding. Once you've worn them you'll never look back!!!

Quote from the Company, Assume this would be the same with the ones for the car. :)
Park the truck and put the brake on. For safety's sake the vehicle should not be on a slope during fitting, even though this was done during the testing phase. AutoSock for Trucks should be fitted to the outer driving wheels, starting at the top of the tyre and working downwards. Move the vehicle a couple of metres and then push the rest of the AutoSock into position. They'll self-centre on the tyres as you drive off.

My ponds were frozen but the horsies water troughs were not. Sadly though went to look out my old fathful "Long Johns" and found more holes than "Johns".........................bleeding moths!:( On my too buy list.
