Just doing my entry for the winter nationals at Solihull and I was wondering about what to do for accommodation. My class is on Sat 14th April and starts at 8am so I'm going to go up the night before and stable Louis onsite (espcially as it's a good 3 hrs journey from me). Someone mentioned that there is a hotel on site or very near by? I have a trailer so can't stay overnight in that, plus I would like to get a good nights sleep

Has anyone stayed onsite there, do you recommend it and do you know how I go about getting the details so I can book? Thanks

You're lucky to have your schedule ! We've qualified for the SJ'ing and despite sending our form off a couple of weeks ago, haven't received a schedule through yet

hi hun, onsite will be fully booked by now, they were taking bookings last year for this year! we stayed onsite and its gorgeous, the breakfasts and dinners are just amazing. We booked as soon as i knew rough dates then cancelled the nights we didnt need when the actual dates came out at the beginning of the year. We got the last room when we booked.

Otherwise there are some nice B&Bs down the road to stay at.

ETA - details of the hotel are on the Winters 2007 website.

The schedule was in the British Dressage Magazine, not sure if there's a SJ'ing equivalent but I guess it would be in there?

theey are move driving distance but not too far away at all!! it takes about 5 hours just to walk up their drive way!!!

In that case I may need to hire a horsebox as I will not be willing to walk 5 hrs just to get up the driveway

if you can afford it its worth hiring atleast you are on site to keep an eye on the GeeGee. maybe not 5 hours but i wouldnt want to walk up it and do a test!! good luck in getting somewhere or a lorry!

When I went with my YO we stayed in a B&B about 5 mins drive away. I wouldnt worry about leaving the orange man, there will be loads of people about and you will be up very early in the morning.

Katiejaye: There are two hotels nearby, they are Hockley Heath Travel inn (2miles) 08701 977230 and Hogarths Hotel (on-site) 01564 779988, or Solihull Tourist Information 01217046130. Hope that is helpful.

Rambo: What class have you qualified for and I can tell you what day its on and approx start time.

thanks I will have a look into the costs of accomodation and hiring horseboxes to see what is more cost effective

The orange man gets a little insecure on his own so will prob decide to stay close by if i can.

Can you not camp? Pop up a tent or a little camp bed in the trailer. That's what I've always did, before I had trucksor!

Although, the earliest in the year i've done it was late April at Hartbury and it was a bit Brrrrr

Cheap option though
