May be a silly question but I wondered if someone could enlighten me. I have qualified for the Winter Nationals in my Area Festival Restricted Novice class. The WN are next April but I would like to start going out now and doing elementary classes. If I win points at elementary level will that effect me being able to compete at the WN in Novice Restricted?

Thanks

You can compete up to group 3 level (which i think is GP, altho not sure as not got my rules with me!!) so no worries there!!

Id already competed elementary before i did my prelim at the winters last year. As for me it was aslong as i was in rider group 7 when i won my qualifying class it didnt matter what i did afterwards!

no you dont i did the winters this year, once youve qualified restricted you stay restricted. Its all on the petplan website, as its run under the petplan rules wich run along side the bd ones.

We're going to do the Novice 21 and the E 44 at Patchetts Next sunday (sunday 1st). Not sure how well it will go as we've not quite mastered the simple changes yet! Oh well at least there's no leg yield in the test! Have you ridden E 44? Any tips?

its a really nice test - one of the easiest so the way you pick up the points is by making sure hes supple and through on all the circles. It dosent matter if he does a stride of trot in the downwards transition to walk from canter, aslong as you do 3 strides walk then canter again, so you show that you are actualy walking (if you see what i mean).

I love N21, its so nice, did it last wkend and doing it again this wkend for my unaffliated CT at sparsholt!!

they need to check the petplan website not BD - it will have more info as the area festivals are not championship classes - they are a seperate thing just held at the same time as the winter champs

I like the look of E44 it does seem like it runs together very nicely and we've done Nov 39 a few times which has the change of leg in canter (through trot) across the diagnal so we're well practiced with those. We've also been practicing the loops in canter and he's doing those quite nicely now.

I also like 21 so that shouldn't be such a stress! Good luck for this wkend
